In just under two weeks,James Bondreturns to the big screen with the action-packed thrillerSpectre. To get fans ready for this highly-anticipated release, MGM, viaFlicks in the City, has released nine new clips featuringDaniel Craigin action as007, where the super-spy engages with the massive villain Hinx (Dave Bautista) in a train fight. Bond certainly has a size disadvantage against Hinx, but we know that you should never count him out.
These clips also give us a brief glimpse at Q’s (Ben Whishaw) lab, along with the start of acar chase, which may have been part of a scene that we saw in videos from the Rome set back in March. Another clip also featuresJames Bondwith Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) talking about the life of an assassin, while another scene shows the covert agent getting close with Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci). We also see one of the new additions to the cast, Andrew Scott’s Max Denbigh, who informs M (Ralph Fiennes) that the 00 program is getting shut down.
The final three clips give us another look at Eve Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and the villainous Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz), who may or may not be the iconic villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. You may recall that, back in 2013, MGM won back the rights to both theSpectreorganization and the villain Blofeld, after a legal battle that spanned more than 50 years. Whether or not Blofeld will make an appearance inSpectre, which stands for Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, remains to be seen.
It’s worth noting thatSpectremay end up being the finalJames Bondmovie forDaniel Craig, andSam Mendeshas already said he’s not returning to direct a third 007 adventure.Spectrewill also likely mark the final Bond movie distributed by Sony Pictures, since their distribution pact with MGM ends after this movie. Depending on how successfulSpectreis at the box office, it could create a bidding war between studios, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Spectrewill open in theaters on November 6, going up against 20th Century Fox’sThe Peanuts Movieand Clarius Entertainment’s The Outskirts.Spectreshouldn’t have much trouble triumphing at the box office in just two short weeks, but it remains to be seen if it can eclipse the most successful Bond movie of all time, 2012’sSkyfall, which earned $304.3 million domestic and $1.1 billion worldwide.
