Netflix’sAggretsukofeaturing the quirky red panda known as Retsuko, will finally bereturning in 2023for a fifth and final season. After over two years since the release of season four, the final season comes highly anticipated by fans who wonder what adventure Retsuko will take us on next. For those of you who have perhaps been sleeping on this hidden gem of a show (or for those who simply need a recap) don’t fret, we’ll give you a brief introduction and then jump into everything we know so far about the long-awaited season five.
Aggretsukofollows twenty-five-year-old Retsuko, a recent college graduate with a degree in finance who lands a job as an accountant at a trading firm. What seems like the dream job and a bright future, the optimistic Retsuko soon realizes that adult life is not quite that simple. Dealing with office politics, an overbearing boss, social life, dating, and the overall stress of daily life, Retsuko turns to her secret passion to cope: death metal.
The show takes us along on her many adventures and struggles, and we get to watch Retsuko grow into herself and figure out what she wants out of her life, something many of us can relate to. With that being said, let’s find out what season five has in store for us.
Aggretsuko Season 5: The Plot
With season five concluding the series the plot will likely see Retsuko (Erica Mendez) settling down now that she has found her direction andpurpose in life. In season four we see Retsuko’s relationship with Haida (Ben Diskin) begin to develop. After harboring feelings for Retsuko for quite some time, Haida finally works up the courage to tell her. Although they go through a difficult period where Haida is caught up in work stuff, the season ends on a hopeful note with the two of them getting back to normal. With season five it is very likely that we will continue to see their relationship develop, and it’s possible that we may even hear wedding bells for the finale.

Previously and completely by happenstance, Retsuko became an underground idol in a girl group in order to settle her debts, but she has since branched out on her own to teach others how to do the death metal scream. With her videos and side hustle being very successful we may see Hyodo (SungWon Cho) approach her for a collab and see Retsuko reunited with OTMgirls. Especially since she now owes him one after he helped her out in season 4. A collab, however, would likely be the end of the chapter for Retsuko’s celebrityhood as it seems that she wants more than anything to lead a normal life.
Netflix has also teased that for the final season, Retsuko will be running for office, but what exactly this means we don’t yet know. It may be that we will see Retsuko applying for a manager position at her office or perhaps running for a position on the board of directors of the company since she exposed the previous CEO of window dressing. We are certainly excited to find out what exactly is in store for Retsuko.
Aggretsuko Season 5: The Cast
Netflix has released a few teaser images forAggretsukoseason five, including the one featured above. These images include some familiar faces and also introduce us to somenew charactersthat will be making their debut in the final season. Who these characters are, we don’t know yet and what role they will play in the final season we will have to wait and find out.

Besides these new and unknown characters, the previous cast and staff forAggretsukowill be returning for this final season which means we will be reunited with all the usual characters in Retsuko’s circle. Including her most recent boyfriend, Haida, her best friends Gori and Washimi. Her office pals Fenneko, Kabae, Mr. Ton, Komiya, Tsubone, and Tsunoda. With the teaser images giving us insight, it seems we will also be reunited with Retsuko’s former bandmates and manager of OTMgirls.
Release Date
Although the final season has been announced for release sometimein February 2023, the exact date has not yet been revealed. But with the final season highly anticipated among fans, we will be keeping an eye out for any updates aboutAggretsukoseason five.
