Star Warsmay take place in a galaxy far, far away, but it’s not afraid of running around in circles.Ahsoka, the latest live-action Disney+ series starring Rosario Dawson, has already featured a bevy of iconic faces, most notably Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader. However, series creator and showrunner Dave Filoni is not done recruiting formerStar Warsactors for his flagship streaming show. While many fans never expected the prequel era to make a resurgence in the past few years, the latest development surroundingAhsokawill shock them the most. The show is reportedly close to adding another big name to its call sheet —Natalie Portman.
According toKristian Harloff,Portman is close to signing a deal to reprise her role as Padmé Amidala inAhsokaSeason 2. Furthermore, Harloff speculates her return will be made through the same mystical plane that brought back old characters last season, the World Between Worlds. It’s unclear what a Padmé appearance would entail, but we’d wager that it would also include Christensen as Anakin in some form. Although Filoni seems keen on bringing back the dead forAhsoka, it seems it will all be connected to the main character’s personal journey. Of course, nothing has been confirmed thus far, but there is some credibility to the latest rumor.

The last time audiences saw Portman play Padmé was in 2005’sStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, which had her character die after giving birth to Luke and Leia. Since then, there has been no indication that the Oscar-winning actress would ever set foot on aStar Warsproduction again until recently. In 2023, Portmanrevealedshe was open to returning as Padmé. However, at that point in time, no one had asked her to reprise her role yet.
“No one has asked me [to come back]. But I’m open to it […] yeah.”

‘Ahsoka’ To Reportedly Feature Return of Another Familiar Face
Ahsokawon’t be stopping at including Natalie Portman as Padmé Amidala. Ewan McGregor, who starred in the limited seriesObi-Wan Kenobi, isreportedly set to return in flashbacksduring the upcoming second season. Since a follow-up to his solo Disney+ series from 2022 failed to come to fruition, it seemsAhsokais the next best opportunity for McGregor to reprise his iconic role. It should be noted that this has not been confirmed yet. However, it’s hard not to see the writing on the wall, especially since Hayden Christensen’s return as Anakin was also leaked in a similar fashion.
‘Skeleton Crew’ Creators Reveal the Only ‘Star Wars’ Rule They Had to Follow
The biggest rule ‘Skeleton Crew’ had to follow was not one that Disney or Lucasfilm set.
AhsokaSeason 2 is expected to bethe show’s last outing, which begins production later this year. An official release date is unavailable, but it’s rumored to be released on Disney+ in early 2026. The news ofAhsokafinishing its run in the second season coincided with the report that the streaming service is looking toreduce itsStar Warsoutput. Of course, this does not account for Disney’s upcoming movie slate, which includes Jon Favreau’sThe Mandalorian & Grogu,James Mangold’sStar Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, and the untitledfilm set in the sequel era starring Daisy Ridley.
