Ahsokawas one of Disney+’s biggest and wildestStar Warsshows, bringing multiple fan-favorite characters to live-action. The first season ended in 2023 andwas renewed soon after. Unfortunately, the creators of the series were quiet about the second season for more than a year. With filming starting at the end of April 2025,Ahsokacreator Dave Filoni shared a few details about the upcoming season during the Star Wars Celebration event.
TheAhsokapresentation confirmed that many of the show’s characters would return for Season 1, while also introducing a few new cast members. Filoni also revealed a new plot in the second season, separate from Ahsoka’s exploration of the World Between Worlds. There wasn’t any news about a release date, but here’s what we know so far.

Mostly the Same Cast
Based on concept art and information revealed at Star Wars Celebration, most of theAhsokacast will return for Season 2 of the show. Rosario Dawson will once again play Ahsoka Tano. Most of theStar Wars:Rebelscharacters are set to return alongside her, including her Padawan Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), and their droid Chopper. Concept art also showed that the Jedi droid Huyang, who’s played by David Tennant, will return in the second season.
Most of the antagonists from Season 1 are also slated to return in Season 2 ofAhsoka. Lars Mikkelsen will once again help lead the Empire as Grand Admiral Thrawn. Captain Enoch (Wes Chatham), a stormtrooper with gold plating, will also be in season two to carry out Thrawn’s plans. Baylan Skoll, the former Jedi who acted as an antagonist throughout Season 1, will be played byGame of Thronesactor Rory McCann.Skoll was originally played by Ray Stevenson, but was recast following the actor’s death. His apprentice, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), will also be in Season 2.

Season 2 will also have quite a few appearances from popular characters throughoutStar Wars' history. At Star Wars Celebration,Hayden Christensen announced that he would once again play Anakin Skywalker. Anakin appeared throughout the first season ofAhsokaas a force ghost and helped guide his former Padawan, Ahsoka. In his announcement, he said he couldn’t share much about his role in Season 2.
Zeb Orrellios (Steve Blum) didn’t appear in Season 1 ofAhsoka, despite the rest of his friends fromRebelsbeing there. Zeb was busy meeting with other Rebels in an episode ofThe Mandalorian, but he will be joining the cast of Season 2.Filoni also confirmedthatAdmiral Ackbar, a fan-favorite character from the original trilogy, will play a prominent role in the second season. Filoni said, “[H]e’s going to go head-to-head with Thrawn. Give them some competition.”

Season 2 Will Focus on the Mortis Gods
The ending ofAhsokaSeason 1had the characters coming close to a mysterious group called the Mortis gods. Baylan Skoll approached a monument dedicated to the Mortis gods on Peridea. Unbeknownst to Baylan Skoll, he was on the same planet as Ahsoka, Sabine, and Shin Hati.Season 2 will likely show Baylan Skoll trying to find the World Between Worlds, a dimension connected to the Mortis gods. Ahsoka, Sabine, and Shin Hati might also run into him on Peridea while he makes new discoveries about the Mortis gods.
The Mortis gods first appeared inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, as three force-wielding beings: the Father, the Daughter, and the Son. The Daughter represented the light side of the force, while the Son represented the dark side. InThe Clone Wars, they lure Anakin Skywalker to the planet Mortis when they hear that he’s “the chosen one.” While there, the Son tries to turn Anakin to the dark side and ends up killing Anakin’s Padawan, Ahsoka. The Daughter resurrects Ahsoka but kills herself in the process. In another episode, the Father, whose powers are connected to the Son, kills himself, which also kills the Son.

“It was such a revelation.”
The Mortis gods were then depicted in a painting inStar Wars: Rebels.Ezra Bridgerwas able to use the Forceand the painting to access the World Between Worlds. The World Between Worlds allowed him to time travel and save Ahsoka from dying in a duel with Darth Vader. Ahsoka later entered the World Between Worlds again in the seriesAhsokawhen she encountered Anakin. Baylan Skoll likely wants to find the World Between Worlds so he can meet someone from his mysterious past.

The ending ofAhsokaSeason 1 had one more connection to the Mortis gods and the World Between Worlds that will probably be important in Season 2. While on Peridea, Ahsoka encountered an owl-like creature named Morai. Morai was linked to the Daughter and even became friends with Ahsoka after the Daughter brought Ahsoka back to life. Morai was also there when Ezra saved Ahsoka in the World Between Worlds.Morai seems to hold a big secret that will play a major part in Season 2’s plot.
‘Ahsoka’ Is Bringing Big Space Battles Back
TheStar Warslore gets pretty confusing with theAhsokaseries, but there are other reasons to get excited about Season 2. The franchise has started to stray from giant galactic warfare with shows likeThe Mandalorian, but Dave Filoni’s ready to bring that sort of action back to the universe. At Star Wars Celebration, the writertalked about his plans for Season 2, saying, “Half of it is going to be a really, really big battle. There is going to be a war in ourStar Wars, like an all-out throwdown on a scale as best as I can do it.” Filoni said the battle would directly involve Thrawn and would give theRebelscharacters, like Ezra, Hera, and Chopper, more screen time. Based on what Filoni said about Admiral Ackbar, it’s likely he’ll play a role in the battle as well.
‘Star Wars’ Dave Filoni Explains Why His ‘Mandalorian’ Movie & ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Take a Long Time to Make
Dave Filoni is the driving creative force behind many entries in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise, and he won’t be rushed.
Filoni’s plans forAhsokaSeason 2 are refreshing to hear. The franchise was built on big space battles, and learning so much about the Jedi and the Force has been boring for some fans. Hera, Ezra, Zeb, Chopper, Thrawn, and Admiral Ackbar are some ofStar Wars’ best characters, so it’s also exciting that they’ll appear more inAhsokaSeason 2. WithAhsokajust starting filming at the end of April 2025, there aren’t many specific details available to the public yet.Expect another eight episodes in the season and more news to come as filming wraps later this year.
