Set up your catapults as a third installment in theAngry Birdsmovie saga is in the works. Based on the immensely popular mobile game series, the firstAngry Birdsmovie was released in 2016. The film features a strong comedic cast, including Jason Sudeikis, Peter Dinklage, Bill Hader, Josh Gad, Maya Rudolph, and Danny McBride. Despite underwhelming reviews, the film was a box office success, prompting a sequel, which was released two years later. The follow-up in the franchise received much better reviews, and left audiences wondering if we’d see the flightless birds return to our screens again.

Deadlinehas confirmed thatThe Angry Birds Movie 3is in the works. Rovio Entertainment Corporation and Prime Focus Studios are currently developing the project, in partnership with DNEG Animation studio. The report also confirms that Jason Sudeikis will be returning as Red, the iconic bird from the video games, and Josh Gad will be back as Chuck, the fast yellow bird.

John Rice, who co-directedThe Angry Birds Movie 2,is returning to direct the third installment. The script is being penned by Thurop Van Orman, who also wrote and co-directed the previous installment. Van Orman is also executive producing the project, alongsideSonic the Hedgehog’s Toru Nakahara. In a press release (viaIGN), Sega President and COO, Shuji Utsumi, said:
