Christopher Nolanhas recruited two top tier actors to join his much-rumored new film —ZendayaandAnne Hathaway. It’s enough to excite even the most casual of movie fans. But don’t expect too many details about what the movie will actually be just yet.
In new exclusive reporting fromDeadline,theChallengersandThe Idea of Youactresses are set to join the previously announcedTom HollandandMatt Damonin what is being touted as Nolan’s next “event film.” Any rumors beyond that are, allegedly, exactly that: rumors.
What Is Christopher Nolan’s New Movie About and Who Stars In It?
The film is already slated with a release date — July 04, 2025, and will be filmed and shown in IMAX — the director’s preferred, large-format cinematic medium. The release date tracks for a Nolan project, given the number of his films that have come out during that particularly summer blockbuster-forward time period.
There has beenplenty of speculative reportingon what Nolan’s next film will be: is it a horror film? A vampire tale? A period piece? A Bond movie? A sequel toMemento? Another superhero film? Something he co-wrote with his wife? Or…is it actually none of the above/something else entirely?

Sources note that log lines or descriptions of the film that have been published to date are wrong, and details are being kept under wraps, though the movie is expected to start shooting in early 2025.
The director is perhaps best known for his science fiction films likeInceptionandTenet, though he is also acclaimed forThe Dark Knighttrilogy, as well as his Oscar-winning featuresOppenheimerandDunkirk. Fans of Nolan’s have long hoped for the director to return to several of his previously crafted worlds, but we’ll likely have to wait until next year to find out more, definitive details once production gets underway.
Whatever the film ends up being, it will mark the first time Zendaya has worked with Nolan, and the fourth time she will appear on-screen with her on and off-screen love interest,Spider-Man’s Tom Holland. This will be the third movie for Hathaway and the acclaimed auteur, who previously worked with Nolan onThe Dark Knight RisesandInterstellar. As for Damon, well he’s been involved in many a Nolan project, too, with roles inOppenheimerandInterstellar.
