“I’m not dismissing it, I want to do it.”

Following the monumental success of Barbie, which was met with both critical acclaim and over $1 billion at the box office, the studio is no doubt hoping to greenlight a sequel as soon as possible. Last year, CEO of Mattel, Ynon Kreiz,teasedBarbiesequels aplentyand revealed the studio is now considering creating a whole host of spinoffs, turning other dolls in the toy line into their own movies and thus expanding on the world created in the firstBarbieouting.
“Barbie, as a brand, has many different iterations. The product lines of Barbie is a very broad brand. In addition to the main Barbie figure, she has family, she has a lot of elements around in her universe. It’s a very rich universe… It’s a very broad and very elastic brand, in terms of opportunities.”
