To say that people are excited for Disney’s live-actionBeauty and the Beast, which is coming out next year, would be an understatement. The recently released full-length trailer broke thetrailer-view recordfor a 24-hour period, which is no small feat. Now, a new International trailer has made its way online, giving fans just a bit more new footage to chew on and get excited about.
This new trailer forBeauty and the Beastmade its way onto YouTube recently and for the most part, is a slightly condensed version of the first full-length trailer that Disney released a couple of weeks ago. However, there is some new footage in here that further showcases how closely this live-action take will mirror the original animated classic. In this new trailer, we get to see a new shot of Mrs. Potts' son Chip, as well as some more of Belle’s horse in the snowy garden. Also, there is a gorgeous shot ofBellegetting to see Beast’s immense library for the first time. Given how successful and how beloved the animated version ofBeauty and the Beastis, it is likely this strategy of familiar story, new presentation will pay off for Disney.
This live-actionBeauty and the Beasthas an incrediblestable of talentto further give Disney fans hope that this movie will live up to the hype. Disney has had a tremendous amount of success with these live-action adaptations of their classic movies so far. This trend started withTim Burton’sAlice In Wonderland, which made more than $1 billion worldwide back in 2010. Since then, they have also had success withMaleficent,CinderellaandThe Jungle Book, which was one of the highest-grossing ($966 million) and best-reviewed movies this year. Disney has no reason to thinkBeauty and the Beastwon’t be at least as successful at this point. The studio also has several otherlive-actionprojects in development, includingDumbo,The Little Mermaid,AladdinandThe Lion King.
Beauty and the Beastwill be primed to make a lot of money in its first week of release, since it will only have relatively minor competition. TheJames Gunnproduced horror movieThe Belko Experimentand the indie action/crime dramaFree Fireare the only other movies being released on the same day. The following week they will have some slightly more stiff competition in the form ofPower RangersandKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
