The Hollywood conveyor belt never stops, and just because you’re involved in a well-publicized legal battle doesn’t mean you can’t line up new work.Blake Livelyhas lately been known more forher lawsuit againsther,It Ends With Usdirector and co-star, Justin Baldoni, but she’s proving that it won’t stop her from securing a fresh new project with a producer who has a connection to the mega-hit,Wicked,and combines the charm of a rom-com with the explosive delights of an action movie.

PerThe Hollywood Reporter, Lively will headline the action rom-com,The Survival List, which comes from a spec script by Tom Melia. Lionsgate acquired the rights to the film, which follows Annie, a TV producer who is assigned to a new TV show against her will that follows a popular survival expert named Chopper Lane. During an excursion together, the pair end up shipwrecked, and Annie learns that Chopper Lane is no expert in survival. Now, it’s up to her to figure out how to keep them alive.

Since the movie is also a romantic comedy, it’s more than obvious that this unlikely pair will develop feelings for each other. Lively will also serve as a producer on the project, alongside Marc Platt, who served in that capacity onWicked, the blockbuster and awards-season smash.

For those following Lively’s legal fight with Baldoni, which includesaccusations of sexual harassmentand assertions that the latter engaged in a smear campaign to harm her credibility and career, many believed that it would be a while before the actress landed her next gig. Despite her level of fame and being married to Ryan Reynolds, another big Hollywood player, some felt that those in the industry may not want to work with her until the dust settled from her lawsuit. This doesn’t appear to be the case, especially since this film will feature the actress as the lead and will allow her to be a player behind the scenes as a producer.

The project is significant because it’s the first new gig Lively has landed since her “is it over yet” legal fight with Baldoni began. The actress was last seen inthe sequel,Another Simple Favor, which hit Prime Video back in early May. However, that film came together before her legal woes with Baldoni went public, soThe Survival Listcomes about at a time when Lively likely needed to prove she would still be sought after for work, despite the messiness of being attached to such a public fight.

Lively’s legal battle didn’t seem to affectAnother Simple Favor, which registered a 60% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while also pulling in solid notices for the actress in the film. Lively also stood publicly and proudly while promoting the film, appearing on various red carpets with her castmates, as well as making television appearances, most notably onLate Night with Seth Meyers, to get the word out on the Prime Video release. It seems that, sometimes, the best way to attack certain controversies is to simply act as if nothing is wrong.
