Many famous names have been circulated by fans on social media, but someone who used to be in Spears' inner circle has her own opinions about who should not only play the “Gimme More” singer, but also Justin Timberlake and herself.
PerTMZ, Spears' former personal assistant, Felicia Culotta, is putting some names in a hat for roles in the biopic that will be based on the singer’s New York Timesbest-selling memoir,The Woman in Me. Roberts does have a healthy resume and even ties similar to Spears in terms of beginning as a child actor. Roberts once starred in Nickelodeon’sUnfabulous, which consisted of a musical element, while Spears was part of the cast ofThe New Mickey Mouse Clubbefore dominating pop music.

Culotta isn’t only suggesting names to walk in Britney’s shoes. Spears' memoir goes pretty deeply into her former relationship with Justin Timberlake, who was pop star royalty alongside her as a member of *NSYNC.Spears' former assistant believes that Timothée Chalamet would be perfect for Timberlake, who is now no stranger to music biopics, as he’ll be taking on Bob Dylan inA Complete Unknownon Christmas Day(a year after his last musical,Wonka). As for who should play her? Culotta believes Drew Barrymore would channel her best.
Best Britney Spears Performances, Ranked
Known as the “Princess of Pop”, Britney Spears is one of the world’s best-selling music artists.
A lot of actors have been mentioned regarding playing Spears, with names such as Sydney Sweeney, Millie Bobbie Brown and Sabrina Carpenter being thrown into the mixby fans. On the other end of the spectrum, some think a well-known face would be too distracting and that the film should go with a complete unknown for the part. At the end of the day, Spears has some creative control over the script and casting, working alongside Universal Pictures, director Jon M. Chu, and producer Marc Platt. Ultimately, the final say might be a group decision, with Spears likely getting the official last word on who gets to play her.
Universal Pictures ended up landing the rights to Britney’s memoir for a reported amount in the high eight figures, which also included access to the singer’s music catalog. The studio reportedly beat out Disney and Netflix, who were also fighting to get the rights to her book. It has been a few years since Spears has released new music (save a redo of “Tiny Dancer” with Elton John released in 2021) but her music still streams heavily on Spotify, whileher memoir has sold 2.5 million copiesacross all formats. If this is done right, Universal Pictures could have a big hit on their hands and even a potential award contender should they go that route.
