Bruce Campbellextends his holiday spirit into the new year with the release of a teaser forEvil Dead Risevia Twitter. Campbell has led the charge in sharing exclusive sneak peeks for the upcoming fifth installment in theEvil Deadfranchise these past few months, despitenot returning as the iconic horror protagonist Ash Williams. This time around he serves as executive producer, and his presence in the film’s rollout only builds anticipation for the return of the legendary franchise.
The minute-long video is full of classicEvil Deadstaples such as The Cabin and a clip of Ash saying his famous catchphrase. It initially begins with Campbell addressing long-time fans of the franchise. Before he offers the first look intoEvil Dead Rise, he assures horror fanatics that the upcoming installment will exceed expectations. “I’ve seen the movie and all of its glory. In case you’re wondering, yes, it is amazing. And yes, it is the scariest one yet,” he states. According to the teaser, the official trailer will premiere January 4th. The last 20 seconds of the video offer audiences their first official glimpse of the film, which ends with a young girl face-to-face with her mom who has been overtaken by a Deadite.

Evil Dead Risewill be released in theaters on July 29, 2025. The official synopsis is below:
“A road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A. apartment. The sisters' reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.”

Sam Raimicultivated the universe and lore ofEvil Dead, and his impact and legacy have lived on since the first feature’s genesis in 1981. The classic horror franchise spawned four feature films – three with Raimi in the director’s chair – and the Bruce Campbell-led television series that directly tie into the universe. Lee Cronin’sEvil Dead Risemarks the fifth installment in the series, which brings the cult classic out of the woods into a more contemporary space. Cronin admits some quintessential elements are missing in the upcoming feature, such as Ash and The Cabin, so it “does not fit perfectly” when compared to the other works within the franchise. However, the film maintains faithfulness to the series’ core while opening up the potential for the universe’s expansion.
“It’s firmly in the universe,” the director toldTotal Filmin their December issue. “There’s a lot of fun callbacks, and there are direct lines to the past. But part of the goal of making this movie was to create something that could expand the Evil Dead universe further.”
