Bruce Springsteencontinues to supportThe BearstarJeremy Allen White, who plays the former in the upcoming biopicDeliver Me From Nowhere. It’s always encouraging to get approval from The Boss, who, asVarietyreported, stated that White’s portrayal of him is one “the fans will deeply recognize.”
Springsteen’s support of White has includedshowing up on the set ofDeliver Me From Nowhere, which is being directed byCrazy Heart’s Scott Cooper. Springsteen and his longtime manager Jon Landau — who is played bySuccession’s Jeremy Strong in the film — have been very involved in the production.

First look at Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen Has Fans Divided
Bruce Springsteen fans got their first official look at The Bear star as The Boss in Deliver Me From Nowhere – and not everyone loves it.
One might imagine it to be slightly anxiety-inducing to have The Boss show up at your job. Springsteen noted in aninterview on SiriusXM’s E Street Radiothat it was “a little” weird to see someone playing a younger version of himself, as the film captures the era when Springsteen recorded his stark 1980 albumNebraska.

“But you get over that pretty quick,” Bruce added. “And Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize. He’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
Possibly upping the anxiety factor is the fact that White is also doing his own singing inDeliver Me from Nowhere. But The Boss approved of that as well.
“He sings well, he sings very well,” Springsteen said. “And Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young [Faye], there’s just a tremendous cast of people. They cast the film beautifully so, it’s very exciting.”
White has had help from both Bruce and a team to help him nail Springsteen’s musical chops. “I’ve got a really talented group of people helping me train vocally, musically, to get ready for this thing,” White toldGQin August. “I’m also really lucky [that] Bruce is really supportive of the film, and so I’ve had some access to him and he’s just the greatest guy.”
Deliver Me From NowhereIs a Snapshot of a Pivotal Time in Springsteen’s Career
Deliver Me From Nowherethe film is based on the 2023 biographyDeliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraskaby Warren Zanes. TheNebraskaera saw Springsteen stripping down his sound, with most of the de facto solo album captured by Bruce in his New Jersey bedroom on a four-track recorder. Springsteen has also gone on record saying that he was depressed during the period.
Nebraskais populated with dark, desperate characters. The title track tells the tale of Charles Starkweather, a spree killer who terrorized Nebraska and Wyoming in the 1950s. The main character of the standout and often-covered “Atlantic City” has “the kind of debts that no honest man can pay,” driving him to seek employment in organized crime.
The aforementioned elements of the album and Springsteen’s own personal story during theNebraskaperiod seem to be in good hands with White in the leading role and Bruce’s support.
WhileDeliver Me From Nowheredoesn’t have an exact release date, it is slated to come out in 2025.
