It’s Charli XCX’s world, and we’re all just living in it. Not only was she just nominated for a whopping sevenGrammynominations for her critically acclaimed albumBrat, including album of the year, but the pop star is now garnering major Hollywood attention.Deadline reports thatCharli will join the cast ofThe Gallerist, which stars Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega and will begin filming sometime at the end of this year.
The plot will follow a desperate gallerist who cooks up a scheme to sell a dead body at a famous art gallery. No word on who will play the lead, but we do know the rest of the cast, which is satisfactorily stacked. The film is also set to star Da’Vine Joy Randolph, winner of last year’s best supporting actress Oscar forThe Holdovers, Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction, This Is Us), Zach Galifianakis (Only Murders in the Building, The Hangover), Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War, Inglourious Basterds), and Catherine Zeta-Jones (Wednesday, Chicago).
The new film is beingdirected by Cathy Yan, who previously helmedBirds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. The script is by James Pedersen, who penned the 2022 action comedyHigh Heat, starring Olga Kurylenko and Don Johnson. No release date has been set as of this writing.

She’s also set to appear insix other upcoming projects:Erupcja, which means “eruption” in Polish and centers on two women with an explosive relationship;100 Nights of Hero, starring Emma Corrin and Maika Monroe; the TV seriesOvercompensating, about a young football player struggling with his sexuality;I Want Your Sex, Greg Arraki’s latest film, which co-stars Olivia Wilde and Daveed Diggs;Sacrifice, an action comedy with another stacked cast, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, and John Malkovich; and last but not least, a remake of the grisly horror mockumentaryFaces of Death, which follows a website content moderator discovering a series of violent videos.
In addition to the numerous Grammy nominations,Brathas enjoyed several accolades and has been placed number one on an impressive number of “best of the year” lists, including Rolling Stone, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, NME, Stereogum, and The Washington Post, among others.
