Jurassic World Dominionis being called theepic conclusionto theJurassic Saga. Colin Trevorrow’sJurassic World Trilogywas earlier marketed as a revitalization of the original series, with the story continuing more than a decade ahead in time. WithJurassic World Dominion, Trevorrow changes that and directly links his films to theJurassic Parktrilogy, creating a cinematic universe of its own.
Lead actor Chris Pratt, who plays Owen Grady in theJurassic World Trilogy, has compared this move to Marvel Studios withMarvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview withComicBook.com, the actor talked about howDominioncompares toAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgameand completes a long-running story just like these two films did for the MCU’s three phases.
I think maybe Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame is a similar comp because you’ve got whatever that was… 10 years, 20-something films. All of these characters each had their own stories, their own trilogies, coming together. And you’re like, ‘This is wild.’ You’ve seen these worlds collide. It feels the same way. You’ve got the Jurassic Park trilogy. You’ve got the Jurassic World trilogy, and it’s this big epic conclusion.
Pratt’s comparisons draw from the fact that MCU has expanded its story over the years in the timeline and has established a thorough conclusion of multiple stories and character arcs.With the previous cast returning,Dominionis also heading similarly, giving closure to not justJurassic Worldfilms, but alsoJurassic Parkfilms, as well as their characters.
Talking about if he’ll return to the roleif ever the franchise is continued, Pratt added,
I mean, I guess it would probably… possibly? You’d want to leave it open to that possibility
Jurassic World Dominionis at Least an End to a Phase
Just likeAvengers: Endgame,Jurassic World Dominionwill end a big phase in theJurassic Saga. Colin Trevorrow and Chris Pratt have both declared that the film will bean end of the story that these characters have continuedover the last six films and that there are no plans for a sequel. On the other hand,Avengers Endgamehas been continued by Phase Four of the MCU, which is bringing in new characters and story arcs to the fold. Still,Endgamedid endThe Infinity Saga, where several characters had their last in the franchise, leaving room for others to take on their mantle, or moving ahead in a new direction.
Talking about differences betweenJurassic Sagaand theMCU, Pratt said,
Now, at the end of Avengers … They’ve continued to make these Marvel films, but that does feel like a phase that is over. It’s rolled over into a new phase, you know? And of course, Marvel continues to do great things. I feel like it seems, it makes sense that Jurassic would continue to tell great stories, but I think Iron Man’s gone.
Jurassic World Dominionwill release on Aug 02, 2025, and will conclude the two trilogies with alegacy story that began with Steven Spielberg’s first entryin the franchise. Set four years afterFallen Kingdom, the film will see a conflict of animal rights ideologies, impact of ecological imbalance, and sudden shift in the food chain on the planet - bringing the prophesied dangers from the first film to reality.
