Christina Applegatehas clarified her recent comments about the depression she has suffered as a result of her MS diagnosis. TheMarried with ChildrenandDead to Mestar was originally diagnosed with the terrible disease back in 2021, but it was comments made earlier this month that caused concern among many of those following the star’s story, when she made the confession that she“doesn’t enjoy living anymore.”
Speaking during a June 4 episode of herMeSsypodcast, co-hosted by fellow MS survivor Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the actress candidly spoke about her current emotional state. During that episode, she commented:

“[Its’] a real, f*ck-it-all depression — like, a real depression, where it’s kind of scaring me too a little bit because it feels fatalistic, it feels really ‘end of.’ I don’t mean that, but I’m trapped in this darkness now that I haven’t felt in probably 20-something years. I don’t enjoy living. I don’t enjoy it. I don’t enjoy things anymore.”
Christina Applegate Assured Fans Not To Worry About Her
This statement had many of the actress’s fans and podcast followers sharing messages of concern for her welfare. In the latest episode of MeSsy, Applegate addressed her previous comments, and revisited her previous statement with a little clarity for those who have voiced their concerns for her.
“I was talking about some dark stuff that I was thinking and feeling. I feel like when we hold things in we give them power. I also think that there’s so much shame a lot of people feel when they’re going through mental health issues … and when people hold those in, because they’re so afraid to say how they truly feel, we give it immense power.

By making such a big deal about it you’re making other people think, ‘Oh, s—, I can’t talk about this.’ And that is not OK with me. It’s important to be able to say these things.
And, no, I’m not sitting here on suicide watch, OK? I am not. Nor have I ever been.

Christina Applegate has Shared Her Experiences Through Her Podcast
Working on their MeSsy podcast has allowed Applegate and Sigler to bring their struggles and experiences living with MS to a wide audience. Whether through honest and often blunt discussions about the disease, or the challenges it brings to their mental health as well as their physical state, the episodes offer those suffering in the same way a sense that they are not alone.
Applegate’s courage in sharing her mental health struggles sheds light on the emotional burden that chronic illnesses, such as MS, can bring. Her openness is a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health support and the strength found in sharing one’s truth, no matter how difficult that may be.

Christina Applegate Receives Standing Ovation During Emmy Awards Appearance
Christina Applegate, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 2021, was met with cheers and applause when taking the stage at the Emmys.
Although the actress has continued to share her story via her podcast, last year Applegate confessed that shedoesn’t believe she will ever get back in front of the cameraagain. In aVanity Fairinterview, she reflected on working with Linda Cardellini onDead to Me, and how she saw it as a great way to endher on-screen career. She said:

“Linda and I, from day one, were in love with each other and trusted each other and supported each other. It’s rare that you have an equal playing field and you get to play ping-pong instead of tennis. There’s a difference. Ping-pong is so much more fun when the other person is just as good as you are. I’m probably not going to work on-camera again, but I’m so glad that I went out with someone who is by far the greatest actress I’ve ever worked with in my entire life, if not the greatest human I’ve ever known.”
