Christopher Reeve’syoungest son doesn’t have any intention of ever suiting up as the character ofSuperman, which his late father so brilliantly portrayed, and the reason is simple: he doesn’t “need” acting to “breathe” like his parents did. Rather, 32-year-oldWill Reeve’spassion for life lies within the realm of journalism, not unlike theMan of Steel’s alter ego, Clark Kent. This is a similarity that Kelly Ripa noticed and brought up while speaking with Reeve during his appearance on theLive with Kelly and Marktalk show. Ripa then asked her guest if he’d ever been approached to play Kal-El of Krypton, and Reeve responded by saying:

No, I’ve never gotten the ask.

In addition to being a real-life journalist who serves as a correspondent for ABC, Reeve also bears a remarkable resemblance to his dad, so it wouldn’t be that big of a stretch for him to play the character. Unfortunately, even if Reeve had been asked to suit up in the trademark red-and-blue tights, he would have turned down the opportunity. Reeve explained his thinking to Ripa and co-host Mark Consuelos by saying (below):

“I learned at an early age from my parents, who were both accomplished performers, that to succeed — and you both know this — in entertainment, or really anything, but certainly in entertainment, you need to need the craft like you need air to breathe. It has to be a core part of who you are. For me, I acted in school plays and things, but that was just part of who I was. I didn’t need it. I realized, as an ambitious person, I should channel my energies into the things that I’m really passionate about, which is what led me to journalism.”

Will Reeve Was “Terrified” by His Cameo in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’

The news broke in July 2024 thatChristopher Reeve’s son, Will, was spotted on the setof filmmaker James Gunn’s highly anticipatedSupermanfilm. However, Reeve won’t be in the movie for all that long. Rather, the real-life journalist will briefly make the cameo everyone was expecting, but he will have one line of dialogue in what is described as a “major scene” (perVariety). Meanwhile, during his interview onLive with Kelly and Mark,Reeve also said that he was “terrified” on the set of the DCU project:

“I was terrified, is how it compared [to being a journalist]. I have one line in the new Superman movie that comes out in July. The director, James Gunn, has been so great to me and my family. And [he] said, ‘Hey, do you want to come and do this thing?’ I said, ‘Sure.’ He sent me the script, and everything but my line was redacted. So, I have no idea what happens in the movie. I get there. It’s in Cleveland. I made it a day trip, [and] I get out there. I have my one line.”

Co-host Mark Consuelos then asked if he nailed his single line of dialogue, to which Reeve responded by saying,“No, not at all.“The studio resonated with laughter, but then Reeve revealed that it only took him three takes to get the scene right. The journalist attributed his fumbling of the dialogue to being nervous.“This was pure terror,“Reeve continued. Fans can check out Will Reeve’s cameo whenSupermanopens in theaters on July 11.
