Courteney Cox is known by many iconic names such as Monica Geller, Jules Cobb, and even Gale Weathers. Here are her best performances, ranked.
As Springsteen’s “biggest fan”, Cox is seen in theDancing in the Darkmusic video being plucked from a concert crowd to join The Boss on stage for some arm-swinging dance moves, while saxophonist Clarence Clemence’s powerful solo blasts out. Now Cox has been given the chance to relive her moment, in a fashion, by taking part in a new TikTok trend that sees parents showing off the dance moves of their past.

Captioned “1980’s dancing…in the dark,” Cox’s video begins with her looking a little uncomfortable dancing to Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat, wearing a hoodie. She then whips off her top to reveal a Springsteen shirt similar to the one she wore back in the 1984 video, and it is like she is suddenly back thereperforming with The Bossin a time when $1 million per episode contracts were still a distant dream. Courteney Cox Was Reluctant to Go on Stage With Springsteen
While there are hundreds of thousands of Springsteen fans who would happily share a few moments on stage with their idol, and many have over his six-decade-spanning career, Cox was not quite as excited about getting on stage as the video footage suggests. Although the appearance was one of her first times on camera, it could have been a different story if it had been someone else selected bydirector Brian De Palmainstead – and it almost was.
Back in 2017, the actress shared her thoughts on taking part in the video, revealing that she initially filmed a whole scene with her character’s friends getting ready for the concert, and they were told that during the song one of them would be selected to get up and dance on stage – but they were not told who. Cox said of the moment:

“I didn’t want to be the one to have to go. I didn’t want to dance in front of 30,000 people. It was a full concert, and we did the song twice, back to back.”
The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White Cast as Bruce Springsteen in The Boss’s Upcoming Nebraska Biopic
Bruce Springsteen’s film will explore the creation of the 1982 hit album, Nebraska.
As Cox noted, the actual song itself was recorded live on the opening night of Springsteen’s mammoth Born in the USA Tour of ‘84-‘85. While the actress has since said that the moment did open a number of doors for her career, it seems that it was just as well the decision to dance was taken out of her hands.

Cox is set to return once again as Gale Weathers inScream VII.
