Legendary Pictureshas released a new TV spot for their highly-anticipated thrillerCrimson Peak, arriving in theaters October 16 from directorGuillermo del Toro. This 60-second video reveals new details about Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska), who claims that ghosts are real, since she has seen them her entire life. Unfortunately for her, the new house she’s currently inhabiting is filled with lost souls who have perished from incrediblyviolentdeaths.

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author (Mia Wasikowska) is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. The film is set to hit theaters October 16, going up againstBridge of SpiesandGoosebumpsin wide release. Thishaunted housethriller will also go up against indie films such asRoom,TruthandWoodlawn. It’s too soon to tell which of these projects will prevail during this competitive weekend, but horror projects likeCrimson Peakalways perform well during the month of October, as fans get ready for the Halloween season.

We reported earlier today thatGuillermo del Toro’s sequelPacific Rim 2has been delayed, just before production was set to begin this fall. The filmmaker revealed that he is turning in the script in just a few weeks, but he also said that he may make a different movie before tacklingPacific Rim 2. Perhaps the filmmaker will start crafting a sequel forCrimson Peaknext, but we don’t know for sure. While we wait for more details on the director’s next project, check out the newCrimson PeakTV spot.
