Dandadanwas undoubtedly 2024’s biggest and most popular newanimerelease. Fans of the hit series, based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, won’t have to wait long for the show’s second season, which will release as part of the Summer 2025 anime season. We’ve already been treated to posters and teasing snippets of info about the show’s return. But,Dandadanfans finally have their hands on the first full trailer for Season 2, as well as the exact release date.
To casual anime fans who hadn’t read the manga,Dandadancame out of nowhere last Fallto be the biggest hit of the year. Season 2 is looking to do the same thing in 2025, and the first trailer for the series is promising similar success. In the new trailer released on Netflix’s YouTube channel, Okarun and Jiji dive into the latter’s haunted childhood home, where the Evil Eye resides. Meanwhile, Momo’s story continues from the Season 1 finale, where she was trapped in a hot spring by creepy aliens. Most excitingly, we finally have our first glimpse at Jiji with his Evil Eye powers, as the fourth member of the group had waited through all of the first season to get powers. The trailer also revealed that Season 1 will premiere on Netflix and Crunchyroll on July 3.

With no new series premiering in May, the month is perfect for catching up on popular series or finding a new one to watch.
Science SARU returns to animate the new season after doing a phenomenal job on Season 1. Fuga Yamashro is co-directing the second season with Abel Gongora. Hiroshi Seko is in charge of series composition, while Kensuke Ushio is composing the scores. Season 2’s OP hasn’t been revealed yet, but it has big boots to fill following Creepy Nuts' banger, “Otonoke,” from Season 1. The official synopsis forDandadanreads:
“When high schooler Momo, from a family of spirit mediums, first meets her classmate Okarun, an occult geek, they argue—Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. When it turns out both phenomena are real, Momo awakens a hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse. Together, they must challenge the paranormal forces threatening their world.”
For die-hard fans who don’t want to wait until July 3 for the new season, you may catch a glimpse of Season 2 in theaters a month prior. Just like with Season 1’s debut last year, the first three episodes of Season 2 have been packaged into a feature-length film, titledDandadan: Evil Eye. The movie debuts in Japan this May, and in early-June in the US and in Europe. An exact release date has not been set.
Season 2 ofDandadanwill build off the cliffhanger ending to the show’s debut. At the end of Season 1, Okarun and Jiji discover a secret room in the latter’s haunted home. Season 2 will cover the"Haunted House Arc" and the “Evil Eye Arc"from the manga, which are two of the most popular arcs among fans from the entire series.
