TheMarvel Cinematic Universe(MCU) has already seen great teams come together to take on incredible odds. The Avengers have proven to be Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The Guardians of the Galaxy were essential to fighting off the greatest threats to the cosmos. The Defenders to the upcoming Fantastic Four show the future of the MCU is in teams. One major team seems to be building in the shadows of the universe, one of the supernatural variety:The Midnight Suns.
Update August 23, 2025: This article has been updated to reflect recent developments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Originally titled The Midnight Sons, the team was rebranded for the video game, and given the recent output of supernatural-themed heroes, it appears that brand synergy is working. The MCU already has a great cast of characters that could make up the team, covering various corners of the supernatural archetypes like vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, and creatures of science. These are the heroes who should make up the Midnight Suns.
While many will alwaysthink of Wesley Snipeswhen they hear the words Marvel andBladeuttered in the same sentence, the time for a new guard has come. Mahershala Ali takes the mantle of the Daywalker, having first appeared (offscreen) inThe Eternals. Blade is part vampire and, as such, is capable of walking in the daylight but also possesses the strength and speed of the Kindred.

Blade has a cinematic history that predates the MCU. Withthe reintroductionof such an iconic character played by a two-time Academy Award-winning actor, Blade will likely play a major role in the MCU. While his film has been delayed multiple times due to creative issues behind the scenes, Blade’s feature film will likely lead to a supernatural team of heroes with him acting as the leader.
Moon Knight
Oscar Isaac played the character ofMoon Knightin the Disney+ series.Moon Knightfeatured the titular hero taking on the forces of the Egyptian God, Ammit. Marc Spector would embody his powers as Khonshu’s avatar to maintain the balance among the gods. Moon Knight is a perfect wildcard with various weapons, multiple personalities, and a bit of regeneration.

While Ammit may be tamed for now, the MCU has not held back on the possibility of there being multiple pantheons of gods, all with their respective evil deities. If the threat is an ancient evil, Moon Knight could provide a great alley for the supernatural team. The dynamic between the various identities, Moon Knight, makes for an interesting team member.
Werewolf by Night
Werewolf by Nightis certainly one of the breakout heroes of the Multiverse Saga. The character is a lesser-known comic book property, but his stylish 2022 Halloween special was one of the best-reviewed entries in Phase 4. The character of Werewolf by Night and his alter ego Jack Russell, played by Gael Garcia Bernal, is already a well-established individual.
The series established Jack Russell as someone who goes around and helps protect supernatural creatures from monster hunters, and this would immediately put the character in conflict with someone like Werewolf by Night and Moon Knight, whichever great superhero team needs the members to fight later. He provides a new perspective on the “monsters” in the MCU, and him as a sort of humanitarian for these creatures would make him one of the first to jump into a fight to protect others. He might be the link that connects various characters.

Elsa Bloodstone
Introduced in theWerewolf by Nightholiday special,Elsa Bloodstonewas played by Laura Donnelly. The special established her as coming from a long line of monster hunters but someone who wants to defy her family’s legacy. She has met Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing and now has the resources of her family estate. This sets her up for an interesting futurethat could be vital for the Midnight Suns.
Not only could Bloodstone Manor be the base of operation of the team, but since she comes from a long line of monster hunters, she likely has a history with Blade. She would also have a deep knowledge of any threat the team would come into conflict with. The film could see her become more like her comic book counterpart as a classic action star.

While Werewolf by Night might have been the star of the Halloween special, it wasMan-Thingwho was the breakout character. Man-Thing is established as being a close friend of Werewolf by Night. The team seems to be traveling together, so wherever one goes, the other does, too.

Man-Thing is very much the Hulk of the Midnight Suns, one who is super powerful and has a destructive force behind him. He also is very much like Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, the good-natured sweetheart brute of the team, and he would provide a much-needed sense of levity to the film. He is a gentle soul but also a powerhouse for the team.
Agatha Harkness
Kathryn Hahn broke out as the fan-favorite characterAgatha HarknessinWandaVision. The character proved so popular that she was given her own spin-off, the upcoming Disney+ seriesDarkhold Diaries. This series could be very important for laying the groundwork for the Midnight Suns in the MCU, and Agatha Harkness could become an important character for the team.
While the Midnight Sons of the comics were traditionally exclusively men, Marvel is showing that they are willing to break tradition, altering the group’s name for theirrecent video game adaptation. With this restriction lifted and Scarlet Witch taking a backseat for the time being, Agatha Harkness could be the team’s resident magic user. She is a chaotic character, one who might have started out as a villain but one, like Loki, who could become a more heroic character. Agatha likely has years' worth of knowledge about whatever threat they face, while her magic could be used to transport the team wherever they need to go.

Ghost Rider
Another integral member of the team would be theGhost Rider. While one version of the character was introduced on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the form of Robbie Reyes, the MCU likely wants to use the first and most iconic take on the character: Johnny Blaze. Unlike other members of the team, Ghost Rider has yet to be introduced into the MCU properly.
There have beenrumors that a Ghost Rider project was developing at Marvel Studios, but nothing official has been confirmed. Ryan Gosling has expressed interest in the role, and an actor of his caliber would be great to see alongside stars like Mahersha Ali, Oscar Isaac, and Gael Garcia Bernal. Ghost Rider could make his debut in a Midnight Suns project and become the center character as his villainMephisto is reportedly set to appear inIronheartand could be the main villain that unites the team.
