Nicolas Cagestars inDream Scenario, Kristoffer Borgli’s latest film, and it looks like it could become one of the best titles in the ever-popular actor’s career.
Cage made his acting debut on television under the name Nicolas Coppola in the seriesThe Best of Times in 1981. In 1982, he made the leap to the big screen withFast Times at Ridgemont Highand in the following four decadeshe has appeared in more than 110 films. However, his career has been littered with hits and misses, and currently he going through something of a renaissance period.

This year, Cage has released five movies beforeDream Scenario. The first to be released wasThe Old Way, an American Western directed by Brett Donowho, which currently has a 30% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The second was the Universal Pictures comedyRenfield, with 58%.
Although he is only on screen for a few seconds, Cage added an appearance as Superman to his resume inThe Flash,which holds as a score of 63%. The summer’s offering from Warner Bros. failed to ignite the box office and sawthe cameo of Cageand other former DC starts being heavily criticized. Cage’s subsequent releases of Sympathy for the Devil, andThe Retirement Plan,earned him 58% and 60% scores respectively. While the run of poor critical reviews could have been signaling the end of Cage’s popularity, it looks likeDream Scenariomay save the actor’s year in a big way.

With a total of 108 reviews at the time of writing this article,Dream Scenariohas a scoreof 91%, which would place it among Cage’s best films. In fact, it would be placed ninth in the top 10, below titles includingMandy,Leaving Las Vegas,Face/Off,Moonstruck, andPig.
Dream Scenariohas managed to surpass some of the actor’s most acclaimed titles, such asRaising Arizona,The Unbearable Wight of Massive Talent, andKick-Ass. Of course, the reaction of fans and the general audience remains to be seen, as the film will hit theaters on November 22.

The film follows the life of a family man and teacher named Paul Matthews, who suddenly begins toappear in other people’s dreams, which leads him to become famous. But when dreams begin to take a dark turn, Matthews' popularity will go from a blessing to a burden.

As for what’s next for Cage, next year he will star in Oz Perkins' new filmLonglegs, and Ben Brewer’s next movie,Arcadian. Both are currently in post-production. The actor is also expected to return as the voice of Spider-Man Noir inBeyond the Spider-Verse, which currently doesn’t have a release date.
