Netflixoffers a myriad of films and TV shows, the majority of which range from classic horror films to the latest comedies. Especially with the New Year on the horizon, the streaming service will be brimming with numerous exciting releases, with plenty of originalTV shows coming to Netflix in Jan. 2024. However, it also brings about the departure of several popular movies that have been lying around in Netflix’s library.

For instance, Netflix removed some of the most popular films, such asKung Fu Panda 2, Tobey Maguire’sSpider-Mantrilogy, and Andrew Garfield’sThe Amazing Spider-Mantrilogy last month. If you missed seeing those films before they were removed from the streamer in December, you might be interested to know that many more will be departing Netflix next month. With that in mind, here is a list of every movie leaving Netflix in January 2024.

Gladiator (2000)

Gladiator, the Oscar-winning picture, is known for its spellbinding experience and is regarded as one of the most beautifully made films in what is one ofRidley Scott’s best movies. The film stars Russel Crowe as Maximus, a powerful Roman general who was chosen by the former King as the successor to the throne over his own son, Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix.

As a power struggle ensues between both the formal and informal heirs, Commodus murders Maximus' family and throws him into the Gladiator pit. Will Maximus succumb to Commodus' torment, or will he seek retribution for the death of his family?

Jaws I, II, & III (1975 - 1983)

AlthoughJaws 2and 3 were nothing short of a letdown in comparison to Steven Spielberg’s magnificent first outing, some fans of the franchise tend to enjoy what followed. However, the entire trilogy will be leaving Netflix in January. For those unaware,Jawstakes place on Amity Island, a small community beach town. When Sheriff Martin Brody discovers a shark victim, the entire community is thrown into panic, with only Quint, an experienced hunter, Brody, and oceanologist Matt Hooper risking their lives to hunt down the creature.

Mission: Impossible I, II, & III (1996 - 2006)

Mission: Impossibleis arguably one of the best, if not the best, long-running franchises of all time, thanks to Tom Cruise’s exceptional longevity. If you haven’t had a chance to catch up on the saga, the first three films, which aren’t thebestMission: Impossiblemovies, will be removed from Netflix soon.

The plot ofMission: Impossiblerevolves around Ethan Hunt, a highly skilled agent of the Impossible Mission Force (IMF), who constantly fights against the odds, either owing to his lack of insight or due to the actions of another mastermind. Nonetheless, he frequently places himself on high-stakes missions to save the world. The most recent outing,Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One,saw Cruise perform arguablyhis best stunt yet, though it slightly underwhelmed at the box office during its summer 2023 release.

The Karate Kid Part I & II (1984 - 1986)

Long beforeThe Karate Kid, starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, became a sensation in 2010, there wasThe Karate Kidfilm franchise, which inspired the modern martial arts seriesCobra Kai. The 1984 film follows Daniel LaRusso, who moves to Los Angeles with his widowed mother but struggles to fit in with the new environment.

With bullies on his heels all the time, he must find a way to protect himself, which is when he meets Mr. Miyagi, a seemingly normal person who is, in fact, a martial arts veteran. Will Mr. Miyagi’s Japanese defensive Karate stand a chance against Daniel’s bullies?

Spy Kids I, II, & III (2001-2003)

Although theSpy Kidsfranchise has received little critical acclaim, it is undeniably one of the most entertaining franchises for both kids and adults alike, with the earlier films being thebest in theSpy Kidsfranchise. If you’ve been meaning to revisit these classics, you should do so soon because they will no longer be available on Netflix starting Jan. 13. The story ofSpy Kidsfollows Gregorio and Ingrid, two of the world’s top secret agents who fall in love and decide to start a family together.

Despite not being entirely faithful to the original video game and somewhat succumbing to thevideo game movie curse,Uncharted, starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, is an enjoyable adventure film for those unfamiliar with the games. The film chronicles the quest of Nathan Drake, a street-smart youngster searching for his long-lost brother, and Victor Sullivan, a seasoned treasure hunter who is after the massive fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan five centuries ago. When they both end up on the same mission, they are confronted by Santiago Moncada, who believes he is the rightful heir to the lost treasure. Can Nate and Sullivan beat the ruthless Santiago to the treasure and claim one of the world’s oldest treasures?
