Today Facebook is excited to announce that they’re rolling out 360-degree videos in News Feed. There are a number of publishers sharing new 360 videos on Facebook today, includingStar Wars, Discovery, GoPro,LeBron James& Uninterrupted, NBC’sSaturday Night Live, and Vice. This means publishers can now upload 360 video to Facebook and starting today, people around the world will be able to discover and experience 360 videos in News Feed. Disney andLucasfilmare proud to debut an exclusive 360 experience from the upcoming movieStar Wars: The Force Awakensthat brings fans inside the beloved universe.
360 video allows you to immerse yourself in the content you’re watching by enabling you to look around, choose what angle you want to see it from, and experience it as if you were there. On the web you may do this by dragging around the video with your mouse, and on mobile devices you do it by dragging with your finger - or even just by turning your device. You’ll be able to hold up your phone and the 360 video will follow you as you turn, looking around, to experience things from all over the world like never before. If you’re using Facebook on the web or on Android, you should be able to see 360 videos in News Feed soon, and Facebook plans to roll this out for iOS in the coming months.

ThisStar Wars: The Force Awakensvideo explores the desert planet ofJakku, giving fans a first-person view as a ship travels through the wreckage, including a crashed Star Destroyer. This video was created exclusively for Facebook’s new 360 degree videos, so don’t expect to see any of this footage whenStar Wars: The Force Awakenshits theaters on December 18. Still, with three months left until its release, it’s possible that we may see even more of these 360-degree videos from this highly-anticipated sci-fi adventure.
DirectorJ.J. Abramsrevealed at Comic Con that thenew trailerforStar Wars: The Force Awakenswill debut sometime this fall, although the filmmaker never gave a specific release date. Many fans are hoping this third trailer will finally give us our first look atLuke Skywalker(Mark Hamill), who hasn’t been seen in any of the previously-released footage thus far. LucasFilm still hasn’t released an official synopsis yet either, so hopefully we’ll get the first confirmed plot details along with that trailer.

A rumor surfaced earlier this month that fans will be able to start purchasing tickets forStar Wars: The Force Awakenson October 19, but, like all rumors swirling around this highly-anticipated movie, that date has not been confirmed. The newStar Wars: The Force Awakenstrailer should be arriving soon, so stay tuned for more details about that, and the official date to purchase tickets.
