“A plumed, two-legged winged creature with a serpentine body, the Occamy may reach a length of fifteen feet” — or at least that is how Newt Scamander described this magical creature. We met this enormous feathered blue baby snake inFantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, when it slipped from Newt’s suitcase, and he tried catching by making it shrink into a tea pot. Yes, these creatures can adjust their body to any size. The design of the creature is amazing, as well as the fact that their eggs are made of pure silver. It requires special knowledge to keep it from getting hurt, as well as keeping it from hurting others.

7Thunderbird

This magical avian creature is native to North America, specifically Arizona, and is closely related to phoenixes. These magnificent creatures sadly get trafficked, as we’ve seen with Frank the Thunderbird in the first movie. What’s extremely special about Thunderbirds is the fact they can create storms as they fly, which is a helpful feature to have if they come from the rainless Arizona. The only time we properly saw the creature in action was inFantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, when it was used to Obliviate the New Yorkers while the wizards proceeded to rebuild the ruins of the city.

6Swooping Evil

Swooping Evilis “a large, butterfly-like creature that emerges from a small object, possibly a cocoon.” It was seen when Newt saved Tina (Katherine Waterstone) from the death cell. Its venom was also diluted and used to erase bad memories of the muggles, mixed with the Thunderbird’s storm. It’s important to mention that even though it can be used for something beneficial for wizards, it also tends to eat brains. So, no matter how cute it may look, you should probably stay away for your own safety.

This unique creature strangely resembles a rat with sea-creature-like features. Although many think it ugly, the Murtlap essence actually has healing remedies. Taking it back toHarry Potter, its essence was used by Hermione (Emma Watson) to cure Harry’s (Daniel Radcliffe) injuries after Professor Umbridge (Imelda Staunton) tortured him inThe Order of The Phoenix. It does have a tendency to bite whenever you so much as come close to it, as we could see with Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler).

Fantastic Beasts Thunderbird

A native beast to European mountains, Graphorns are four-legged dangerous creatures with very sharp horns used to attack anyone in their proximity. Newt was taking care of creatures that were endangered and near extinction, and Graphorns were one of them. As it appears, Newt had the last breeding pair and managed to save them from extinction, as their status has changed to extant. Graphorn’s horns can be used for many potions acting as antidotes, but it’s very difficult to obtain them, as it doesn’t like to be tamed.

Often mistaken for rhinoceroses, Erumpents are African creatures that are capable of repelling any charms or spells. The only way to tame it is to court it as Newt did inFantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. The mating dance was performed by Newt purely because if the Erumpent managed to attack him and stick him on its horn, he would explode.

These tiny creatures are often mistaken for fairies, but if you look closely, they have multiple tiny arms and legs. It’s a troublesome creature with the ability to fly and is very prone to stealing things. Despite being so small, their teeth are venomous and can inflict unbearable pain if not treated quickly. They also tend to lay their eggs underground.

1Demiguise

Demiguises are one of the few creatures on this list that are actually peaceful and herbivorous. Their special abilities consist of making themselves invisible if feeling threatened and being able to predict the future. Some of you may not know, but pieces of their fur was used to create the Invisibility Cloak. This ability backfired as wizards became eager to create these items and their wild populations were decimated by poaching and illegal trade.
