In just two days, a new version of Marvel’s First Family comes to the big screen with 20th Century Fox’sFantastic Fourreboot. We have seen plenty of footage of Reed Richards (Miles Teller), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan), Sue Storm (Kate Mara) and Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) from thissuperhero moviethus far, but we haven’t seen much of the nefarious Doom, portrayed byToby Kebbell. To rectify that, the studio has released a new clip showcasing this evil villain’s incredible powers, which he uses to take out anyone in his path, without literally lifting a finger.
Since the main characters are all younger, much different versions of the heroes portrayed in the 2005 original movie, it stands to reason that the villain will be different as well.Julian McMahonplayed Victor Von Doom in the firstFantastic Four, who had the ability to shoot bolts of electricity from his finger tips. This version of Doom, dubbed Victor Domashev, has much more advanced powers, somewhat similar to the force fields thatThe Invisible Womancan create. He also has the ability to create so much telekinetic force with his mind that his enemy’s heads literally explode.
Fantastic Four, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy. Yesterday, the firstmovie reviewsfor this superhero reboot came in, and they weren’t exactly positive. As more reviews have filtered in,Fantastic Four’s Rotten Tomatoes rating has dropped from 20% to 18%, with just two days left until the theatrical release.
Josh Trankdirects from a script bySimon Kinberg, who is also writing and producingX-Men: Apocalypsefor 20th Century Fox. Early rumors claimed thatX-Men: ApocalypsedirectorBryan Singeris being eyed to directThe Fantastic Four 2, which would then segue into a crossover with theX-Menfranchise.Bryan Singerhas since confirmed that there are early plans for this crossover, but that may depend on how fans react toFantastic Fourin theaters this weekend.
