Can Fast X Ever Achieve the Same Level of Drama That Has Occurred Behind-the-Scenes?
Though details of the plot ofFast Xare largely unknown, we know arguably too much about what has been going on behind-the-scenes. Director Justin Lin, who has helmed five of theFast and Furiousoutings, was on board to return before suddenly walking away from the project not long after filming had begun. Reports then claimed that Lin’s shock decision resulted fromhaving a “major disagreement” with Dieselafter Diesel reportedly arrived at a meeting with notes, something Lin was very unhappy with.
The meeting reportedly ended with “a slammed door,” with sources later saying that “Justin finally had enough and said, ‘This movie is not worth my mental health.’”The Incredible HulkandNow You See Medirector Louis Leterrier will now steer the ship.
All this backstage drama has come at a cost, withFast Xnow expected to be one of the most expensive movies of all time thanks to “numerous budget-busting elements,” including “increased salaries for series star Vin Diesel and the rest of the franchise’s ensemble cast, general increases in production costs caused by global inflation and charges for pandemic testing requirements mandated by COVID-19 safety protocols.”
Fast Xis scheduled to be released in the United States on August 05, 2025, by Universal Pictures, with the eleventh and finalFast and Furioussequel planned for release in February 2024.
