Today, he gives us our first look at theGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2set. He’s gathered his cast for a rehearsal and table read. For the first time, we get to see the main team reunited. In the first photo,Chris Pratt(Star-Lord),Zoe Saldana(Gamora),Dave Bautista(Drax) andSean Gunn(Rocket Raccoon stand-in) gather around the filmmaker, acting out a scene where they all see something looming in the distance. About the photo,James Gunnsays this.

“When someone’s screwing up a scene during rehearsals I show them Dave Bautista (Batista) as an example ofgood acting. With Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, and Sean Gunn. #GotGVol2 - with Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista (Batista) and Sean Gunn.”

The director also shares a second photo. This one findsMichael Rooker(Yondu) trying to escape the camera’s lens.James Gunnstands in the background trying to figure out the perfect shot. And his brotherSean Gunnwatches on helping to block out the shot as Yondu’s righthand man Kraglin Obfonteri. About this moment on set, the filmmaker shares this.

Von Spears is that big looming feline with his back turned to the camera, who is in a hurry to get to the exit. These latest images don’t give us any new information about the storyline of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But it’s clear that this team is already having quite a bit of fun bringing back this Marvel blockbuster for a second go around the block. We even get a picture from the recent table read. About which, the director says this.

“Table read forGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2was this morning. Oh my gosh, it was the most fun I’ve ever had watching a table read, and just as much fun seeing everyone together again. However someone spelled out star’s name wrong so I had to correct it for him. - with Chris Pratt.”

While we haven’t heard any official story details, we do know that this sequel will introduce Star-Lord’s dad. And according toJames Gunn, the role has already been cast, as has the main villain.Kurt Russellwas originally being sought to playPeter Quill’s father, but it is not yet known if he actually signed on or passed, and it isn’t clear when Disney will confirm this information. Until then, we have this trio of photos to keep us occupied. What do you think? Is this team gearing up to give us another Marvel classic? Or will it suffer from the sequel blues? Hopefully we’ll hear an official casting announcement soon.
