Apple TV+hasn’t enjoyed many overnight breakout successes and has reportedly lost a lot of money on its exclusive content model. However, over a month after it landed on the streaming platform,Guy Ritchie’s rip-offIndiana Jonesadventure starringJohn Krasinskiand Natalie Portman is back at the top of the streamer’s movie chart and seems to have found the secret to being forever young.
While Guy Ritchie may be best known for his gritty crime dramas that are as brutal as they are star-studded, he has dipped into many different genres with movies like Disney’s live-actionAladdinand the Robert Downey Jr. version ofSherlock Holmes. As the helmer ofFountain of Youth, he tried his hand at a globetrotting adventure heist movie thattook the most generic elements ofIndiana JonesandNational Treasure, and slapped them together in a way that turned it into a lump of coal rather than a nugget of cinematic gold.

Guy Ritchie’s New ‘Indiana Jones’-Esque Action Film Is No National Treasure on Rotten Tomatoes
The action-adventure movie stars John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Stanley Tucci, and Eiza González, and is now streaming on Apple TV+.
That has not stopped the movie being a hit on Apple TV+ twice though. After topping the chart on its original release in May, the film has now vaulted over recentrelease Echo Valleyand older constant crowd-pullers such asWolfs, GhostedandThe Family Plan, which have all been in the chart for over a year, to reclaim the number one spot and continue its success.

‘Fountain of Youth’ Proved Guy Ritchie Should Stick to Guns and Gangsters
Guy Ritchie is someone who has the work ethic of a horse, and in the last two years has released a massive string of hits and misses, includingMobLand, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Gentlemen, The Covenant, andOperation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.
Fountain of Youthmay have allowed the director to try out something new, but his best projects of the last couple of years have proved that his strengths lie in something a little darker. The Gentlemenwas a massive success on Netflix, leading to a very quick renewal for Season 2, and nowMoblandis doing the same at Paramount+. While his movies have been a little more mixed in both their reception and financial success, there are very few people who do action crime drama better.

Even thoughFountain of Youthis finding success again on Apple TV+, that cannot detract from its 33% Tomatometer and 39% Popcornmeter scores on Rotten Tomatoes. The biggest complaints about the movie were about its uninspired cookie-cutter approach to a genre that has more clichés than a temple in anIndiana Jonesmovie, which made it just feel like a Frankenstein version of every action-adventure movie that came before it. That, alongside a hefty reported budget of $180 million, makes it doubtful that we will be seeing a sequel anytime in the future, but for Ritchie fans,In the Grey, Wife & Dog, aYoung SherlockTV series, and that second season ofThe Gentlemenare just a few of his projects to look forward to.
