Don’t get your hopes up too high just yet, but Jennifer Aniston now says she’s down for aFriendsreunion. In the past, Aniston, who played Rachel on the hit series, has expressed doubt that such a thing would be possible, nor did it seem like she was all that interested. Some of her castmates have cast similar doubt on the prospect. However, Aniston has really changed her tune and, what’s more, she seems to think the rest of her former castmates would be up for it as well.
The revelation came on a new episode ofThe Ellen Show. Host Ellen DeGeneres very simply said, “Do a Friends reunion, okay?” To whichJennifer Anistonreplied, “Okay.” The crowd went absolutely nuts. Speaking a bit further, the 50-year-old actress explained, without hesitation, that she would do it, and she believes the other members of the cast would as well. Here’s what she had to say about it.
“Listen, I told you this. I would do it… The girls would do it, and the boys would do it, I’m sure. Listen, anything can happen.”
Ellen DeGeneresjoked with Jennifer Aniston that she could do the show by herself if nobody else wants to and just call it “Friend.” Then Degeneres said she could move in across the hall and make a spin-off of sorts. At which time, Aniston reminded DeGeneres, and the audience, thatFriendswill be celebrating its 25th anniversary in September. Imagine if NBC could somehow pull off a reunion special in time for the occasion? It would, undoubtedly, be a monster hit.
These new comments, to say the least, are quite surprising. On the one hand, old shows are being revived left and right. Though, fans ofFriendshave surely heard plenty from the likes of Jennifer Aniston,Matthew Perryand others in the past, expressing their doubts, or lack of desire, to bring the show back in any way. So what changed? Has Aniston actually been talking with the old gang? Or is she merely just assuming that the dumptruck full of money that would come along with such a reunion would be enough to sway them? Either way, there is now hope where there once was virtually no hope at all.
