The much-beloved animated seriesFuturamais poised for a resurrection in its 11th season on Hulu. The series fromThe Simpsons’ creator,Matt Groening, had an extended hiatus of more than a decade.
Futuramais famed for its endearing characters and time-traveling antics set in the 31st century. The show will make a triumphant return with 20 new episodes. These episodes will be released in two blocks, each spanning ten weeks. The first set is just days away from hitting the streaming platform.

This groundbreaking series has previously been resurrected following a cancelation, demonstrating the enduring appeal of its comical satire. The upcoming season, according toFuturama’s producer Claudia Katz, will not be shy of embracing contemporary issues. Speaking with SFX Magazine, Katz revealed that the forthcoming episodes would delve into controversial themes.
Katz shared,
“We have a vaccine episode. We’ve finally conquered COVID-19 in 3023, so that’s a very fun exploration of the science, vaccines and just a commentary on that whole situation. There’s a fun Bitcoin episode. And we have an NFT episode which, of course, no one understands, which is sort of the joke. And one of my favourite episodes of the season involves one of our cast members being cancelled for their behaviour, so that’s pretty fantastic.”
An episode dealing with the cancelation of a cast member due to their behavior is among Katz’s favorites for the season, adding yet another dimension to the controversial subject matter being addressed. These episodes reinforce the series' enduring tradition of fearlessly addressing hot-button topics, all while cleverly weaving in elements of humor and satire.
