Yesterday, ABC debuted a new trailer offering another glimpse atGhost RiderinAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.Season 4, which debuts Tuesday, September 20 at 10 PM ET. Today we have our first look atGabriel Luna’s Robbie Reyes with his flaming Ghost Rider head in a new photo. We also have new details about this upcoming season from executive producerJeff Belland actressChloe Bennet.
This season marks the first time the show has moved to the 10 PM time slot, which is typically reserved for darker fare.Chloe Bennet, who plays Daisy Johnson, a.k.a.Quake, revealed that Ghost Rider’s arrival coincides with the shift to 10 PM, revealing that the show is “darker and sexier” than seasons past. Here’s what she had to say in an interview withYahoo! TV.

“If anyone’s familiar with theRobbie Reyesversion of Ghost Rider, they know that the show will have to deal with issues of vengeance, penance, the line between good and evil, and who deserves to die. These massive themes [are] being threaded throughout our season.”
Executive producerJeff Bellreveals that the debut of Ghost Rider, “opens up a whole different kind of storytelling.” While the series has often showcased severalMarvel Comicscharacters throughout the first three seasons, Ghost Rider is by far the most well-known character to arrive on the show, but also someone whose, “origins present themselves as supernatural.” This comes at the same time as the Marvel Cinematic Universe expands with more mystical elements on the big screen with the arrival ofDoctor Strangein theaters on November 4. Ghost Rider will reportedly be “laying out the rules for mysticism” in the MCU this season.
Ghost Rider isn’t the only new addition toAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.this season. We reported last month thatJason O’Marahas come aboard to play S.H.I.E.L.D.’s new director. While his exact role has not been revealed yet, this mystery character has roots in the Marvel Comics going back to the 1940s.
