There’s going to be a lot more ofGinny & Georgiafrom where the first two seasons came from. Back in early 2021, the series debuted its first season and became an instant hit with Netflix viewers. It was renewed for a second season which dropped all of its episodes on the streaming platform back in January. Given how often Netflix cancels its shows, some fans may have been starting to feel concerned about the future ofGinny & Georgia. But asDeadlinenow reports, Netflix has instead renewed the show for not one, but two more seasons, putting the order in for seasons 3 and 4 of the acclaimed dramedy series.

It’s noted that the high viewership and acclaim makes the renewal not all that surprising. Also revealed is that there will be a change in showrunners ahead of the third season. Sarah Glinski (Degrassi: The Next Generation) has been named as showrunner for seasons 3 and 4, as this hiring was made prior to the WGA strike. Debra J. Fisher had served as showrunner on the first two seasons. While nothing has been confirmed concerning Fisher’s exit, the Deadline report refers to recent rumors that there had been some “friction” between the showrunner and series creator Sarah Lampert.

Ginny & Georgia Gets Renewed Through Season 4

Ginny & Georgiafollows teenager Ginny Miller (Antonia Gentry), her mother, Georgia (Brianne Howey), and her brother, Austin (Diesel La Torraca) after they move to a Massachusetts town following the passing of Ginny’s step-father. The first season ended with Ginny uncovering the truth about what happened to Georgia’s husband, and season 2 chronicled the teen struggling to come to terms with that information.

Along with the aforementioned actors, the series also stars Jennifer Robertson, Felix Mallard, Sara Waisglass, Scott Porter, Raymond Ablack, Chelsea Clark, and Katie Douglas.

While former showrunner Fisher is no longer a part of the show, she shared what the plans were for the show’s future back in a January interview withTHR. At that time, she divulged that the plan was to go for four seasons total, and it would seem that this renewal has given them what they wanted. But just in case the renewal weren’t to have happened, Fisher also said that the second season was ended in just a way that wouldn’t be too much of a cliffhanger.

“If we don’t, it will be sad that we can’t show everybody where we want to go, but boy, what a beautiful cliffhanger to end on if we don’t get to season 3,” Fisher said. “Hopefully we’ll get it. I keep telling [fans] to keep watching. Tell all your friends to watch, tell your family, tell everyone you know to watch the show and hopefully we’ll get a chance to do that.”
