San Diego Comic-Con kicks off on Thursday, and will be the first time since 2019 that the event will be held in person. Given that Comic-Con has played host to major film announcements over the years, and the event is returning in all its glory, big announcements and exciting surprises are expected throughout the many major studio panels that are being planned. One of the biggest studios that will have a presence at Comic-Con is Warner Bros., which is scheduled to host a “theatrical session” on the morning of July 23. The panel is expected to mainly focus onBlack AdamandShazam! Fury of the Gods, with the directors of both films joining starsDwayne JohnsonandZachary Leviin Hall H. However, a certain Man of Steel is rumored to be crashing the party.

In aDeadlinebreakdown of everything to expect at Comic-Con, it’s stated that there’s “buzz” thatHenry Cavillwill be joining the Saturday Warner Bros. panel to “talk up more Superman.” Cavill first donned the red cape in Zack Snyder’sMan of Steelin 2013, and followed up that performance with appearances inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicethree years later, followed byJustice Leaguein 2017. Since then, both Cavill and Superman have been kept on the shelf by Warner Bros., with the studio taking its DC properties in a new direction following the mixed reception of the Snyder films. Aside from faceless cameos inShazam!andPeacemaker, Kal-El hasn’t played an integral part in the DC film world in the last five years,Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguenotwithstanding. Cavill turning up at Comic-Con this weekend would certainly be a massive shot in the arm for the future of the DCEU.

Could Henry Cavill Appear inBlack Adam?

Since the Warner Bros. panel is mainly focusing onBlack Adamand theShazam!sequel and Superman did appear in the firstShazam!film, that could mean the character is set for a cameo in either project. Dwayne Johnson recentlyresponded to a tweetcalling for a Black Adam/Superman crossover, to which The Rock responded he’s “learned to always listen to the audience because they will always lead you to where you need to go.” While that doesn’t necessarily mean Superman and Black Adam are in store for an epic battle, Johson is at least aware that many fans would love to see the characters meet on the big screen one day. Whether that day is July 31, 2025, whenBlack Adamreleases, is yet to be seen.

While a Cavill Comic-Con appearance would certainly be a shock, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising. Earlier this year, following the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery, reports surfacedthat the new management wanted to maximize the studio’s DC properties to their highest potential. With Superman being severely underutilized in recent years, an effort is being made behind the scenes to get the character back in theaters as soon as possible. With Cavill’s performance as the Man of Steel being widely praised by fans, it would be a show of goodwill from Warner Bros. Discovery to have the actor return to the role. If the rumors of a Saturday Comic-Con appearance are true, then it won’t be long before Cavill steps back into the boots and tights of the Last Son of Krypton.
