The Witcherstar Henry Cavill has declared his eagerness to join Amazon’s video game adaptation,Mass Effect. While speaking withGames Radar, the actor not only revealed his passion for theMass Effectfranchise, he put himself forward for a role in the project – provided that the execution meets his approval.

“Very much so, yeah, all depending on how they’re executing it. The world of adaptation can be heavy or light. When I like a product, I prefer the adaptation to be less changed from the source, so it all depends. I think it’s found a home, hasn’t it? If [the series] finds a home, I would love to have a conversation.”

The firstMass Effectgame was released back in 2007, with the original trilogy of games following Commander Shepard, a space navy solider, whose mission is to save the galaxy from a race of powerful mechanical beings known as the Reapers and their agents, including the first game’s antagonist Saren Arterius. Since release,Mass Effecthas been met with massive commercial success as well as universal acclaim, with fans wondering when, if ever, the property would be brought into live-action as either a series or movie.

Unsurprisingly, knowing what we know about the actor and his interests,Henry Cavillreveals himself to be a big fan ofMass Effect. “I did not play Andromeda – I had a go at it, but ended up being very busy. But [The Mass Effect Trilogy]? Yeah. Loved it. Brilliant games,” he said, before giving his approval to Amazon’s upcoming series, “It would make such a magnificent series of movies or TV shows.“Cavill has been rumored for a role in a futureMass Effectproject in the past, but thus far nothing has come of it.

An adaptation ofMass Effectwas officially announced by BioWare back in 2010, with Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. set to co-produce and co-finance the project.Blackhatwriter Morgan Davis Foehl was hired to pen the screenplay, which would have been an adaptation of the first game’s story, centering on Commander Shepard’s galactic journey. Following Legendary Pictures' divorce from Warner Bros., Mass Effect was moved to Universal Studios for distribution and has sat in limbo ever since, before moving overAmazon Studiosearlier this year.

“You will see us continuing to invest in fantasy genre of all kinds, we have a genre-focused team on the ground in Studios who work tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, and you can look forward to more,” Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said of development on the Mass Effect series.

Cavill is of course no stranger to video game adaptations, with the actor continuing to lead Netflix’s adaptation ofThe Witcher. The second series ofThe Witcherwill pick up with Cavill’s monster hunter, Geralt, as the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy while delving into Geralt’s mysterious past. The Witcherseason 2 is scheduled to be released toNetflixon August 12, 2025.
