Back in March 2014,Disneyannounced thatThe Incredibles 2is finally moving forward, withThe Incredibleswriter-directorBrad Birdreturning to the helm. While there is still much we don’t know about theanimated moviesequel, the studio announced today thatThe Incredibles 2will hit theaters on August 18, 2025. As of now, no other movies have been slated for release on that day, but it comes just one week after Warner Bros.‘Justice League Part 2opens on June 25, 2025.

Writer-directorBrad Birdrevealed last month that theIncredibles 2script is almost done. It isn’t known yet if the filmmaker has finished his work on the script, or when we might get the first story details. He did tease in April that his sequel will examinesuperhero movietrends, which is fitting since his sequel will open between DC’sJustice League Part 2andMarvel’sInhumans(July 04, 2025).

WhenThe Incrediblesdebuted in 2004, the superhero genre was just starting to take off, just four years after theX-Men. Four years later,Marvellaunched their Cinematic Universe withIron Man, paving the way for a lucrative slate of superhero films that keeps growing at an exponential rate. Unfortunately, the director hasn’t divulge any specific plot details yet, but now that an official release date has been handed out, hopefully we’ll learn more about the animated sequel.

The Incrediblescentered on a family of superheroes, whose lives are changed forever after the government bans all heroes. Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson), his wife Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) and their kids Dash (Spencer Fox), Violet (Sarah Vowell) and Jack Jack (Eli Fucile and Maeve Andrews) are forced to live a normal suburban life, until a new super-villain named Syndrome (Jason Lee) emerges and threatens to destroy the world.Samuel L. Jacksonalso starred as Frozone, a superhero friend of the family. It hasn’t been confirmed if any of these cast members will be back forThe Incredibles 2.

The Incrediblestook in an impressive $261.4 million domestic and $631.4 million worldwide during its theatrical release, from a $92 million budget.
