The Disney/Pixar sequelInside Out 2has been a huge success since release and is now currently thehighest grossing movie of the year.This success has lots of fans wondering if a potential third movie is now an option, andInside Out 2star Kensington Tallman, who voices Riley, discussed the emotional scenes in the film as well aswhat she’d love to see in a further sequel. Tallman spoke toComicBook.comrecently,revealing what she would like to see happen to the character inInside Out 3:love and college.
“Probably love, because I feel like love branches out to so many different aspects and I feel like it would be really cool to see Riley’s love.
She said, “Definitely College age, going into adulthood because that is a really scary time sometimes. but it’s also really exciting. so I feel like balancing the excitement and the fear a little bit, and anxiety with that would be really cool. I’m 16 so I’m not quite there yet. but I’m getting close. I feel like that would be a really unique storyline to explore. I’ll get there before you know it.”

As is tradition with Pixar, Inside Out 2 is filled with incredibly deep-cut Easter eggs that fans might have missed the first time.
Tallman went on to reveal that one of the biggest challenges while voicing Riley iswhen anxiety takes overinInside Out 2. Because she has had her own experiences with anxiety, she explains that it was a very eye-opening experience for her. While she found making the scene difficult, she felt the scene was beautifully handled, taught her about herself, and illustrated the idea that “it’s okay not to be okay sometimes.”
“I think what’s really special is that it teaches us that anxiety is totally normal, and it’s okay not to be okay sometimes. But, recording the anxiety attack and saying, ‘I’m not good enough’ really opened my eyes and showed me how much I say that to myself, and how much I talked down on myself.
It showed me that it’s okay to have those moments… Also, they don’t last forever. Panic attacks are just a small sliver of our time. Everything is temporary. It’ll go away.”
What Does the Future Hold for Riley and Her Emotions?
Announced at D23 by Pixar’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Docter,anInside Outspinoff,Dream Productions,is now in the works and will take us further into the mind of Riley. The series, set to be released in 2025, is set betweenInside OutandInside Out 2, as an “in-between-quel” focused on the inner-workings of Riley’s dreams and the creativity and chaos that comes with it. As well as the spinoff, Disney CEO Bob Iger has also spokenabout the potential for another sequelsaying he “would love” to see it get made. So expect a lot more from Joy, Sadness, Anxiety, and the rest of the emotions.

Inside Out 2 is the sequel to the 2015 original film, which starred a young girl named Riley with a head full of emotions. - literally. With Amy Pohler as Joy, Bill Hader as fear, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger, the all-star cast brought to life the emotions that adolescents face as they grow, change, and adapt to new situations. This sequel, currently in development, will bring Amy Pohler back as Joy, with Riley, now a teenager.

The story follows young Riley as she explores her emotions; Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger, and Fear, after being uprooted and moving to a new city. The story continues for Riley, exploring new emotions; Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment, as she navigates puberty and becomes a teenager. The sequel has since pushed its way into the top 10 grossing films of all time, surpassingThe Avengers(2012).
Inside Out 2is set for digital release from August 20.
