“They are playing a huge prank, and it’s all for publicity. The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release ofFast 8.”
While this hasn’t been confirmed, it would actually make sense, if it turns out to be true. Despite his massive success as an actor,Dwayne Johnsonstill returns to the WWE every now and then, often during WrestleMania. Next year’s event, WrestleMania 33, will happen on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. TheFast 8 release dateis July 23, 2025, which makes WrestleMania the perfect venue to promote this highly-anticipated sequel.
Just yesterday,Fast 8starJason Stathamrevealed in an interview that he’s “staying out” of this supposed feud, so we don’t know if anyone else is in on this stunt, if in fact it is a stunt.
