While we await official confirmation of who will be chosen to star as the latest iteration of superhero iconBatmanin the DCU rebootThe Brave and the Bold, thisIt Ends with Usstar has now thrown his hat into the ring.Brandon Sklenar, who is also known for roles in the likes ofVice, Midway, and theYellowstonespin-off1923in which he stars alongside Hollywood heavy-hitters Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, has approved the fan-casting of himself as James Gunn’s Dark Knight.
The actor took to social media to respond to some fan art of himself sporting the cape and cowl and standing alongside David Corenswet’s Superman (viaDC Universe Daily). The actor simply commented “I approve,” and thus puts himself forward for the DCU’s version of Batman (which isnot expected to be Robert Pattinson’sThe Batman).

The fan art shows Sklenar wearing a take on the costume which adheres more to the blue-and-gray color palette, with the bottom half of his face looking undeniably good in the iconic mask. Of course, how the actor’s chin looks in the cowl is not the only requirement (though it’s a crucial one), and no doubt Batman fans will have their own idea aboutwho would be best suitedto take up the mantle in the DCU.

The Brave and the Bold, which is expected to introduce audiences to another version of The Dark Knight alongside his latest Robin, his son Damian Wayne, is now in development…but it could be some time before we see it light up the silver screen. DirectorAndy Muschietti recently revealedthat “The Batman project has been postponed a little bit so I might do another film before that.” So, for now, the silhouetted glimpse in the animated seriesCreature Commandosis likely all we’ll see of the DCU Batman for the foreseeable future.
