It has long been reported that, at the end ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, theJustice Leaguewill be introduced, as Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) unite withThe Flash(Ezra Miller),Aquaman(Jason Momoa) andCyborg(Ray Fisher). Along withJustice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2, each of these heroes will get their own stand alone movies between 2016 and 2020, although there is very little we know about any of those projects thus far.Jason Momoarecently appeared at Dallas Comic Con, where he revealed that he has been studying New 52Aquamancomics, in preparation for this stand alone movie.

“So, there’s not really a lot of spoilers I can give away. But the research I’ve done on the New 52 stuff withGeoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he’s amazing. He’s got a lot of powers. He’s extremely tough. He’s super strong. But I’m excited about… there’s a big beautiful map laid out and I wish I could carry it with me. It’ll come out soon enough and you’ll see just how big it’s going to be.”

Aquaman

This is the first we’ve heard aboutAquamanbeing based on theNew 52comics, but you may recall that the newSuicide Squadlogo teased a direct connection to the New 52comic books. TheAquamanNew 52 comics were overseen byGeoff Johnshimself, with the 16-issue run leading to the crossover series Throne of Atlantis, which was adapted into the animated movieJustice League: Throne of Atlantisreleased earlier this year. It remains to be seen what aspects of the New 52 comics will actually be adapted into theAquamanmovie.

It was announced in June thatJames Wanis directing, and overseeing the screenplay written byKurt Johnstad.Charles Roven,Deborah SnyderandZack Snyderare producing, but it isn’t known when principal photography may begin. Warner Bros. has already set a July 08, 2025 release date forAquaman, and we already got our first look atJason Momoaas the iconic character in a photo thatZack Snyderreleased back in February. The actor has teased that fans may get to see a more traditional orange and green costume, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Another report surfaced in June, which revealed thatAquamanwill be seen in Suicide Squad. This report claimed thatAquamanis being held in Waller’s prison, where he is being “studied and tested on.” He was reportedly caught after an epic fight with none other than iconicDC VillainKing Shark (Raymond Olubawale), described as a mutant shark, who is being held in the same prison. There was another rumor that King Shark is in a special area in the basement of this prison, reserved for those with superhuman abilities, which is where Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) is believed to be held as well.
