A small change had been made toJessica Jonesat its new home onDisney+and it has some fans wondering if this is a sign of something to come for the tituar character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After previously streaming at Netflix,Jessica Jonesand the otherDefendersshows (Daredevil,Luke Cage,The Punisher,Iron Fist, andThe Defenders) have since made the switch to Disney+.Daredevilcharacters have also started showing up in the MCU, officially linking the two Marvel franchises.
When on Netflix, theJessica Jonestitle card brandished the name of the series. Marvel fans have noticed that the series has inexplicably been updated on Disney+ to now readA.K.A. Jessica Jones. With no explanation given, some fans are wondering why Disney has gone through the effort of having an editor insert the “A.K.A.” graphic onto the title card forJessica Jones. PerThe Direct, one theory is that aJessica Jonesrevival series could be in the works at Disney+ and that perhaps the previous version of the series will be renamed to differentiate it from the new one. Or maybe Disney+ execs just thought the nameJessica Joneswas too bare, as it was originally developed under the nameA.K.A. Jessica Jones, though its title was shortened before officially premiering on Netflix.

Based on the Marvel Comics character,Jessica Joneswas created by Melissa Rosenberg and starred Krysten Ritter as the titular crime-fighter and private investigator. There were many connections with the other Defenders shows at Netflix with Mike Colter featured heavily as Luke Cage; Ritter would also join the others in the crossover seriesThe Defenders.Jessica Jonesdebuted its first season in 2015 and was the last of theDefendersshows to survive on Netflix before wrapping up in 2019 after three seasons.

Krysten Ritter Wants to Return as Jessica Jones
As of now, there’s nothing much more than speculation and rumors about if and when Jessica Jones will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It does seem like a likely possibility afterDaredevilstars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio both appeared inSpider-Man: No Way HomeandHawkeye, respectively. The world have been linked and it may just be a matter of time at this point before Jessica Jones enters the mix, but could this be with a revival of her very own series rather than with a cameo?
In any case, you can count Ritter in if Marvel Studios wants to bring back the character. She has previously made it clear that she’s happy to revisit that role if it comes tothe time when the Defenders cross over into the MCU, a time that we are now living in.
“I would absolutely just die to play Jessica again,” Ritter toldScreenRant. “I had the best time doing it and I just love her so much. I’m so proud of that character. Not only because it was like a great role and she’s such a badass, but that character has really resonated with people in a way that I don’t know who else has. Really, really resonated with women and girls, trauma survivors. It’s just so, so big and such a thing I’m so grateful to have been a part of. So if there’s ever an opportunity for me to put on those boots, I will be there in a flash.”
