Friday the 13th Movies in Order Chronologically and by Release Date

Friday the 13th is one of the most iconic slasher horror franchises, and Jason makes the perfect killer. Here’s how to watch the movies in order.

The actor reflected on the film’s legacy and how it basically helped to cement the rules of slasher movies. Bacon said, “The thing is, is that back then, a lot of these kind of teen type slasher movies were morality tales. So if you had sex, or you did drugs, you were gonna die violently. And I did both, like in, you know, succession. And so of course, I was gonna go.” He also mentioned thathis death in the film was so famousthat it’s unfortunately a moment he revisits when people ask for his autograph:

Kevin Bacon’s Jack smokes a joint in bed in Friday the 13th

“Yeah, my death in the horror film world is famous. It’s so famous that unfortunately, you know, when it comes to signing autograph pictures, the number one picture that I sign is of me dead, which I always find a little bit disconcerting. When someone comes up and says, ‘Hey, would you sign this for me?’ and it’s like [Bacon jokingly poses as his dead self]”

His character on Fridaythe 13th, Jack, meets his demisealmost immediately after he has sex on a stormy night. Guides at Camp Crystal Lake are being discarded in the usual fashion of slasher movies, and Jack can’t escape the wrath of the film’s killer. He’s lying in bed when suddenly a metal arrow is inserted through his neck from underneath it, and the arrow tip appears, while the lethal wound gushes up blood. It is probably the most memorable kill in theFriday the 13thfranchise.

Kevin Bacon on ‘Hollow Man’: “One of the Most Physically Challenging Movies I Ever Did”

In the video,Kevin Bacon revisits lines from filmslikeFootloose,Tremors,National Lampoon’s Animal House(his debut), andSleepers, among others. However, two of them stand out the most:Wild Things, where he speaks about the crew finding a real dead boy while shooting the scene, andHollow Man, which he refers to as an unexpected experience that he found to be very challenging. This is what the actor said:

“The thing was is that you get a part of somebody invisible, and you think, ‘Oh, this is awesome. I’ll just record my lines and I’ll, you know, I’ll be at home, sleeping late.’ No, I was basically the green screen. People are familiar with the concept of green screen, where you put the background in, you know, and then, weatherman does it or, you know, whatever. When you’re doing, going the other way, and taking my character out, I had to be green for most of it.

Kevin Bacon

“Hollow Man, honestly, in a lot of ways, was one of the most physically challenging movies I ever did.”

Kevin Bacon’s latest release is the TV seriesThe Bondsman, and you can stream Season 1 on Prime Video.
