Kevin Costnerhas continued to declare his willingness to work withTaylor Sheridanagain despite the fallout over Costner’s departure from the final season ofYellowstone. The popular Paramount+ drama series is set to end with its upcoming fifth season, but there was much more drama behind the scenes thanks to the ongoing reports of tension around Costner’s inability to fit into the filming schedule for the new episodes.
Yellowstone
Yellowstone stars Kevin Costner and centers on his character John Dutton. Dutton and his family live on a cattle ranch just a few hours away from Yellowstone National Park. The series chronicles the family’s struggle to defend their home from an Indian reservation and land developers. As if their life wasn’t complicated enough, the Duttons also have medical issues, political aspirations, and family secrets stacked against them.
While it seems that Costner and Sheridan have not spoken since their parting of ways, the Oscar-winning actor is not ruling out working withYellowstone’s creator again in the future. In a conversation withEntertainment Weekly, Costner said:

“He’s doing special work in a lot of different ways. He’s very prolific about the things he does, and if he sees me in something that he wants to do, I’ll look at it just the way I did Yellowstone and maybe we will end up doing something together,” Costner said. “He likes a lot of the things that I like, and the idea of us working together is not out of the question for me. The subjects he chooses are very interesting to me. I like a lot of that stuff. Yellowstone stands out as something that could continue. But that is a Taylor question. But other things that he’s doing I think are really, really good. He likes the same subjects that I do.”
Will Kevin Costner Return for Yellowstone’s Finale?
Currently, it seems like there is no way back to theYellowstonefranchise for Kevin Costner, but the actor himself recently made the surprisingly open confession that he would love to be part of the series again if things were able to work out that way. He said:
“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to. I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So, how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

Costner has recently been working on his own two-part cinematic event in the form ofHorizon: An American Saga, which will arrive later this year in theaters and bring the actor back to the kind of Western epic that delivered himOscar glory with 1990’sDances With Wolves. Directed and co-written by Costner, who also stars in the lead, the movie spans a four-year period between 1861 and 1865 and“will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.”
