Way back in June 2014, just a few months after production started onStar Wars: The Force Awakens, we got one of the first reports directly from the set from a somewhat surprising source: filmmakerKevin Smith. The filmmaker recounted hisset visitduring one of his many podcasts, and while he didn’t divulge too many specific details, he did reveal that the Millennium Falcon would return. Now thatStar Wars: The Force Awakensis a massive hit, LucasFilm is starting the pull the curtain back from this secretive production even more, withStarWars.comrevealing a list of the “additional voices” used in the film, one of which wasKevin Smith.
The scene whereKevin Smith’s voice is used is during theFirst Orderattack onMaz Kanata’s (Lupita Nyong’o) castle. The filmmaker/actor voices a Stormtrooper, who, when reacting to incoming Resistance fighters, says “We have incoming at 28.6! Move!” After the announcement of his voice role was made, the director had this to say on hisTwitteraccount.

“Word’s officially out: I’m in @starwars! And all I know is killing and white uniforms! Many thanks, Obi-Wan Abrams!”
The “killing and white uniforms” bit is a nod to his feature film debut,Clerks. There is a scene in the comedy where Randall (Jeff Anderson) is talking about the “independent contractors” presumably brought on to help finish construction on the second Death Star inStar Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, where he states that all Stormtroopers know is “killing and white uniforms.” As for the “additional voices” inStar Wars: The Force Awakens,Kevin Smithisn’t the only notable name.

Sam Witwer, who has voiced Palpatine inStar Wars Rebelsand several other characters in variousStar Warsvideo games, lends his voice to several different Stormtroopers throughout the movie. Other memorable voice credits includeStar Wars: The Clone Warsvoice actorsDee Bradley Baker, Matthew Wood, James Arnold Taylor, David Acord,Catherine Taber,Matt Lanterand Fred Tatasciore, along withNigel Goodrich, just to name a few. You can visitStarWars.comfor a complete list of all the additional voice roles, along with where their scenes are in the film.
The site did mention that there are a few other cameos that will not be revealed quite yet. We already know of a few other cameos, such asSimon Peggas Unkar Plutt, who trades Rey for “portions” of food during the beginning of the film, andDaniel Craigas the Stormtrooper who Rey uses “the Force” on. What do you think of all these additional voices inStar Wars: The Force Awakens? Chime in with your thoughts below, and stay tuned for more details.
