During Warner Bros. Comic-Con panel this summer, the studio unveiled thefirst trailerfor their highly-anticipatedKong: Skull Island, which is set to hit theaters on July 09, 2025. We haven’t heard much about this prequel since then, but today we have a new international trailer, which is largely comprised of previously-used footage. But there is also a new, albeit, brief shot of the iconic Kong Kong. It remains unclear when Warner Bros. and Legendary will release another full trailer.
Back in August,Toby Kebbellrevealed that he has been “asked to promote” playing Major Jack Chapman, who the actor described as the “sidekick” toSamuel L. Jackson’s character. This came just after rumors surfaced that the actor, who has won rave reviews for his motion capture work inDawn of the Planet of the Apesand this summer’sWarcraft, is actually playing King Kong himself. The actor confirmed that he provided facial references for King Kong, but the massive ape himself will be portrayed through motion capture byTerry Notary, an actor, stunt coordinator, and motion capture expert who worked withKebbellonDawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Still, he added that “time will tell who’s playing Kong,” so it is possible that he could be playing this iconic ape. Regardless of who’s playing the ape, directorJordan Vogt-Robertsteased that this movie will showcase the biggest version ofKing Kongever seen on the big screen before. The filmmaker says that this ape will stand over 100 feet tall whenKong: Skull Islandhits the big screen next spring, which you can see in this new trailer that surfaed on YouTube.
