Good News for the Future of ‘King of the Hill’
King of the Hillwas one of the pillars of Fox’s Animation Domination Sunday block programming in the 2000s, alongside the likes ofThe Simpsons,Futurama, andFamily Guy. The decision to cancel the series in 2010 was controversial among many, and for years, fans waited for some type of revival. When Fox passed,Hulu picked up the revival in 2023, the same way they renewed and revivedFuturama. It’s hard to compare the numbers forKing of the HilltoFuturama, given thatKing of the Hilldropped all ten of its episodes at once whileFuturamaemployed a weekly release schedule for its first two revived seasons.
Hulu certainly pulled out all the stops forKing of the Hill, giving the series a big promotional push. Hank Hill became a playable skin inFortniteearlier this year to help kick off the buzz.King of the Hillhad a major activation site at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 as well as a panel with the series creators and voice actors. It even had a fast food tie-in as Whataburger, the Texas-based fast food burger chain referenced multiple times in the original series, had a promotional tie-in with Hank Hill’s order.

King of the Hillscoring the biggest debut for an adult animated series on Hulu in five years is impressive. The series has already been renewed for Season 15, a decision that seems like a gimme given the ratings and critical success of the new season. The revival’s setup, which features an older Bobby and a now-retired Hank and Peggy, certainlycreates plenty of potential storylines that could be told for years.
