Director Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Western crime thriller,Killers of the Flower Moon, has been confirmed to have an epic runtime. Though it won’t be quite as record-breakingly epicas first thought. Coming courtesy of a report byDeadline, Killers of the Flower Moon will run for 3 hours and 26 minutes, rather than the 3 hours and 54 minutes that was suggested recently.
Stacked up against Martin Scorsese’s back catalog, this makesKillers of the Flower Moonthe filmmaker’s second-longest movie, with his first being the Netflix gangster epic,The Irishman, which clocks in at 3 hours and 29 minutes.

Directed by Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Scorsese and Eric Roth, and based on the non-fiction bookKillers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBIby David Grann,Killers of the Flower Moonwill explore the real-life murders which took place in the Osage Nation in the 1920s after oil was discovered on tribal land. The incident sparked a major FBI investigation directed by a 29-year-old J. Edgar Hoover and former Texas Ranger Tom White, who is set to be played byBreaking BadandFargostar Jesse Plemons.
TheKillers of the Flower Mooncastis an impressive one, and finds Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio starring as Ernest Burkhart, with fellow Oscar winner Robert De Niro set to portray his uncle, the American cattleman and convicted murderer William Hale. The rest of the cast includes the likes of recent Oscar winner Brendan Fraser, Lily Gladstone, Tantoo Cardinal, Jack White, and John Lithgow.

Killers of the Flower Moon Will Debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival
Killers of the Flower Moonand its bladder-testing runtime has now been confirmed to debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May. While we have yet to see much from the movie, apart from that one image of a weary-looking Leonardo DiCaprio of course, the projecthas received praise from David Grann, the author behind the non-fiction book thatKillers of the Flower Moonis based on.
“I did visit the set for a few days. And I was, again, just really impressed by how they managed to bring these historical figures to life and capture the hidden truths about the story,” Grann said of what he has seen of the project. “Leo [DiCaprio] just seemed to just be able to capture the nature of Ernest Burkhart, and the level of complicity of his character, and this evil system. And Lily Gladstone brings Mollie to life with such sensitivity and emotional power, at least in the bits I saw.”
Killers of the Flower Mooncostume designer Jacqueline West meanwhile has revealedhow Leonardo DiCaprio feelsabout the quality of the Western, with the actor revealing to her that he thinks “we worked on a masterpiece.”
