A new deepfake video provides a sneak peek at whatLiam Hemsworthmight look like in the role of Geralt of Rivia. Previously, it was announced that Hemsworth would be taking over the role from Henry Cavill after the upcoming third season ofThe Witcher. Recasting Geralt has not been without controversy. Even so, there are many fans who are waiting to see how season 4 turns out with Hemsworth as Geralt before passing judgment. Series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has also teased that Hemsworth’s casting brings a “new energy” to the role that will mark a new chapter for the show starting with season 4.

“I’m so excited for viewers,” Hissrich told total Film. “I think that it’s just a new chapter for us. And I think new chapters bring new energy and that people will find things to love. So yeah, personally, I’m really excited.”
When his casting was announced in October, Hemsworth also spoke about how excited he was to join the show. In an Instagram post, he noted that he was a big fan ofThe Witcheralong with Cavill’s performance as Geralt. Even with “some big boots to fill,” however, Hemsworth is looking forward to having fans see his own run in the role.
“As aWitcherfan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia," he said. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping intoThe Witcherworld.”

Henry Cavill Wraps Up With Season 3
The Witcherdebuted on Netflix in 2019 to instant success, spawning a franchise that has produced multiple spinoffs. An animated prequel was released in 2021 along with the second season ofThe Witcher, while the Michelle Yeoh-starring prequel seriesThe Witcher: Blood Originwas released in December. Other planned projects for the series are also in the works.
The Witcherwill debut its third season later this year with an exact date yet to be announced. There’s no word yet on when season 4 with Hemsworth will arrive.
