After ABC and IMAX announced their surprise collaboration with a newInhumans TV seriesearlier this month, new details have come forward. The initial announcement revealed that this will be the first TV series ever to debut in IMAX theaters before its television premiere, and now we know exactly when it will arrive. During an appearance at the Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, IMAX CEOGreg Fosterrevealed that the first two episodes will premiere in IMAX theaters on July 19, 2025, starting a two week theatrical run.
The Hollywood Reporterreveals that the first two episodes ofInhumans, which will span approximately 80 minutes, will debut exclusively in all IMAX theaters worldwide on June 05, 2025, which kicks off a two-week theatrical run. ABC will then debut the first episode on Tuesday, September 26, with all eight episodes set to air on consecutive Tuesdays. Here’s what IMAX CEOGreg Fosterhad to say in his statement during the conference, revealing that they’re already looking at other TV shows to partner up with, although nothing is set in stone yet.

“This is at the high end of the range of what we’ll be doing, but we’re already looking for a second [series] This is a really exciting opportunity that could blossom into more. Hopefully this will spawn more seasons of the show, and opportunistically, we’re looking at other opportunities and programs that we can become part of.”
It’s worth noting that ABC currently airsAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.on Tuesday nights at 9 PM ET, so it seems that ABC could be eyeing a double-dose of Marvel programming on that night. Then again, sinceInhumanswill only have an eight-episode run, similar to the network’s now-canceled Marvel seriesAgents Carter, it’s possible thatInhumanscould air in the Tuesday 9 PM timeslot for eight weeks, withAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.being pushed to mid-season, but that hasn’t been confirmed. At any rate, it’s possible that this show will in fact cross over withAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.in some capacity, especially since the show introduced theInhumanslast season.
The Inhumans, a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe.Marvel’s The Inhumanswill explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family.Vin Dieselhad been rumored to star as Black Bolt whenInhumanswas being set up as a movie, part of Marvel’s Phase 3 lineup, butGuardians of the Galaxy 2directorJames Gunnrecently revealed thatVin Dieselwill likely not take a pay cut to star in a TV show. There were rumors that theInhumans moviewas cancelled due to a “war” between Marvel’s movie and TV divisions. Now that a release date has been set, hopefully we’ll get some casting news forMarvel’s Inhumansin the near future.
