Netflix announced today that Michael Pena (Crash,American Hustle) and Diego Luna (Rogue One,Y Tu Mamá Tambien) will star in the upcoming fourth season ofNarcos. Production recently began on the new season in Mexico City, Mexico, and season four will be set in Mexico. The casting announcement and location were confirmed today on the Narcos social accounts, which you’re able to see below.NarcosSeason 4 is slated to premiere in 2018.Narcosis produced by Gaumont Television for Netflix. Executive producers for the series are José Padilha, Eric Newman, Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard. No story details were given, but this season follows the third season which focused on theCali Cartel.
This news also comes three months after Carlos Muniz, aNarcos location scout was killedin a rural area outside Mexico City, which is said to have the highest murder rate in all of Mexico. While little was revealed about his death, it was unclear if the murder would lead Netflix to move the show to another locale, but today’s announcement proves the streaming service is sticking to its original plan of shooting in Mexico City, Mexico. No story details have been officially released, nor have details about the characters Michael Pena and Diego Luna are playing.
