Director Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerbecomes the new Cabbage Patch Kid or Buzz Lightyear toy as 4K and Blu-ray copies of the critically acclaimed biopic are selling out too quickly in the lead up to the holiday season. According to a report byDeadline, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is now “Oppenheimer 4K & Blu-Ray Sold Out, Universal Working to Restock Before Holidays of theOppenheimer4K Ultra HD discs at major retailers as movie-lovers scramble to grab a copy.

“We are happy so many consumers are embracing Oppenheimer in 4K Ultra HD and understand that some retailers may currently be out of stock,” the studio’s home entertainment division said in a statement. “Universal is working to replenish those retailers quickly so fans can watch the film at home in the best picture quality possible.”

The physical copy ofOppenheimerlanded on shelves just last week, with the disc containing 3-hours of exclusive bonus material. Much like the theatrical release, which sawOppenheimergrossover $952 million at the box office, the movie continues to be hugely popular and is now sold out at major retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon.

This has led to high-priced copies being re-sold, with the report stating that the ‘Steelcase’ versions ofOppenheimer“have been fetching as much as $200 a copy.”

The filmmaker has long been a supporter of physical movie releases, and clearly this sentiment has rubbed off on audiences. “‘The Dark Knight’ was one of the first films where we formatted it specially for Blu-ray release because it was a new form at the time. And in the case of ‘Oppenheimer,’ we put a lot of care and attention into the Blu-ray version […] and trying to translate the photography and the sound, putting that into the digital realm with a version you’re able to buy and own at home and put on a shelf so no evil streaming service can come steal it from you.”
